Timing for flush and harvest.

Hey, it's my first grow, and some of the hairs on one of my plants are starting to turn brow. It's a bagseed so i don't know the strain. I'm wondering how should I time when I start flushing my plants in comparison to how many brown hairs I see/color of the triochomes.

Like right now they are 30% brown, but the thc still looks clear, and not milky white. I know I'm supposed to flush for approx 7-14 days before I harvest. So how do I know when I should start flushing. I don't want to start flushing too late and then have over-mature smoke after the week of flushing.

I guess my question is what visual sign should I be looking for to know that I should start flushing and getting ready for harvest.

Is it a sativa or indica? I know bag seed but what does it look like? Also keep an eye on the little hairs on the bud (pistils) when they have receeded into the bud she is ready.

A good rule of thumb for this is pretty simple:

Indica (fat leaves) - 8-10 weeks then pull
Sativa (thin leaves) - 10-14 weeks then pull

They may take longer than those times but you should at least be safe and have some decent smoke with those numbers...Of course - flush 2 weeks before, and 1 week before...after the last flush leave them to go dry before pulling.

Basically when they look ready, start the flush - aim for the bigger numbers I've given if you want more couch-lock weed...

Oh yeah - forget the hair colour, get a magnifying glass or microscope and check the trichomes...the more amber the better IMO

I didn't know about the pistols pulling inside the calyx. I'll definitely have to keep an eye on that.

I'm pretty sure it's an indica dominant strain.

So you think I should flush 2 weeks before, then just give straight water for a week, then flush AGAIN 1 week before, then straight water, then harvest right?

As for trichomes, when they turn amber, aren't they a bit over-mature? I thought the best time to get them was when the majority of them were milky white?

Thanks for your answers guys.

Well it depends how you like them...personally I prefer them amber, but if you wanna do it when they're cloudy then fine dude. (just aim for the LOWER numbers I've given you...)

Yeah thats basically it...I like to have the soil dry when I harvest myself...
