Timer recommendations?

Hello all,

I tried searching the forums for any timer recommendations and had zero luck.

I am looking for a decent timer or maybe using X10 (if that even exsists anymore).

I have a 4x4 tent that is way to big for my needs of 5 plants. It has a 90W UFO LED light and 3 42W (120W equvilant) CFLs. Also have a 4" inline fan and 18" carbon filter.

The Fan is way too powerful for the space IMHO so I wanted to have it on a timer that would cycle it on only 15mins/hr while in veg for air flow, and then longer in flower with the carbon filter attached to keep the smell down. Maybe 5min-10min on 5min off.

Sadly, all the timers I have and have seen let you set up to 7 on/off schedules a day. I need something with greater flexibility.

Googling hasn't been all that helpful as I get hundreds of hits for the same crappy timers they sell at the depot or walmart.

Anyone have any solutions or pointers to a thread I couldn't find when searching?

Thanks!

Got a model I can search for? The best I could find was a 7day 7 program timer. There has to be something more flexible than that. Or I could daisy chain timers together to get the desired results.

Digital timers seem to be the most reliable, however, the lower end models can only take up to 8 programming intervals. The pop up ones give you full flexibility, but sometimes are less accurate. I try to get my timers from normal stores like Home Depot/Target as the ones sold in Hydro stores are just re-branded copies of the same stuff, however probably chinese knock off.

Try these search terms on Home Depot web site:

For digital
GE 15 Amp 7-Day Plug-In Dual-Outlet Digital Timer

Manual Pop-up type
GE Plug-In Dual-Outlet Heavy-Duty Timer

More heavy duty outdoor type timer, i know some of my friends use.
GE 40 Amp Heavy-Duty Metal Box Timer

Sorry no links, my links always have my GPS area in them for that web site so I don't like putting them. Another side note on timers, I've yet to find one that didn't get VERY mixed reviews. I think with any timer, someone in the world had bad luck with it, but in general I would say you pretty much get what you pay for on these.

Hey Roidrage, thanks for the response. Going to check those out on break and see if they have enough programs.

I checked out some X10 timers, and for $19.99 you get a timer that will do 64 programmed settings. However, you then need a X10 module to plug your fan/lights/etc into which can run another $10-20. From what I read sometimes they don't work well through a powerbar but might be another option for me.

Thanks again.

Why do you need so many programmable intervals... Are you running more than one lighting schedule at one or what? What's gonna happen with that fancy digital timer when the power goes out? Is it gonna saty off for ever.... Just get a mid priced manual analog timer and be done with it, at least when the power goes off it will come back on and finish. It may be at the wrong time, but it will keep ticking.

Maybe I am missing something, but what you describe can be fixed with a speed controller. I have my fan at lowest setting all the time. I use Intermatic analog timers and no problems. I got my last one off ebay for $9 shipped.

Im looking for a decent thermostatically controlled outlet now, cant seem to find one. You used to be able to buy a high/low mechanical one for green houses for 15. Anybody have any ideas?
