From what I've been able to gather it is good for the roots to dry out a bit which allows them exposure to additional oxygen via room air. Read of one study where hydro/aero grown tomato plants showed no signs of stress until they had been out of the liquid nutrient for 3 hours. Believe in this particular article a periodic dry cycle of one hour followed by one miniute of liquid nutrient application was recommended. Might want to do a little more research before plunging off into the plan but hopefully it give a starting point in your planning. Good growing.
