Yeah they labeled me as bipolar and borderline personality disorder. I believe them. I was completely fucked off and didn't get better till I got on meds, but now the side effects of years of antipsychotics have made me a zombie.

you are a living breathing conscious human being, part of an intricate web called life and nature.that's what you are first and foremost.all other labels you just mentioned were given to you by mad shrinks getting rich off you.they need you to be mad to sell their bullshit drugs.

i agree some people need to be institutionalized.but they are just a tiny fraction of the population.and maybe for them they need to be kept medicated.but the way psychiatry is today, they would have you believe everyone has some kind of dis-order and is depressed or what not,and need to keep paying for their shrinks ski vacation.

what should we give donald trump?...prozac?...modecate?...thorazine?...heck we should give him weed!!!!

Mental illnesses are more than labels. They are legitimate maladies. I suffer from PTSD as a result of combat. The pharmaceutical biz is bullshit, sure, but psychological illnesses are not.

Also, a lot of people are depressed, and a large portion of the population do legitimately suffer from mental illness. Especially depression. To be honest, though, are you surprised? Shit looks pretty fucking grim, if you haven't checked the state of the world lately.

He must be "normal" never hear someone suffering from mental illness say that shit. And what does trump have to do with that. Doesn't know what he's talking about.

Not even trying to be a dick, OP, but I suspect you had an upbringing that consisted of your parents forcing you into therapy and shoving pills down your throat. I can understand that your experience with the field of psychology has been somewhat painful, but there is no coming to consciousness without pain.

By the way, I am in school for research psychology.

His temperament, especially, makes me think that is exactly the case.

My mother thought I didn't have the right to know I could refuse meds at 14. When I found out at 16, I stopped immediately. However, I think if I'd have at least taken the Adderall back in school, I'd have had less trouble from my teachers.

i agree and deeply empathise.what i'm trying to say is that we are looking at things from the wrong angle perhaps.instead of looking at this issue as a faulty brain in need of fixing,we should study the entire big picture.
MANKIND is mad.https://news.vice.com/article/these-nations-are-about-to-start-running-out-of-water

how did we end up like this?till we take the whole human being into consideration and stop looking at people as brains that need fixing,we can never get out of this madness.dear olive,u mentioned ptsd because of combat.the larger issue is why were you in combat to begin with?you get what i'm trying to say?

to try and fix just the headache and ignore the fact that the whole system is in turmoil is never going to get us anywhere.fix the cause and the symptom disappears.

who thrives off our pain and suffering?

Everyone thrives off pain and suffering. Pain teaches us important lessons we are otherwise too stubborn to learn.

I was in combat to learn. To grow up quickly. It was just more quickly than I'd thought. Try as you might, you can never quite prepare yourself for the horrors of war.

we all have 1 fundamental mental illness...a crisis of meaning.we don't know who, what where and why we exist.and no medicine is going to solve that.religion filled that void for medieval minds.science turned us into meaningless specks of dust floating around space for no rhyme or reason.some folks thrive on despair i guess.

but nature always knows why we exist.heck we are her kids after all.she is just waiting for us to grow up and stop behaving like violent crazy monkeys!and she wants us to stop watching jersey shore!

You seem like an alright dude, with your own reasons for not liking the field if psychology/psychiatry. You should look into Carl Jung. You'd probably find it interesting.

For me, Psychology is like a religion. Buddhism is very similar to Psychology. Look into the Psychodynamic and Humanistic schools. They are more like Buddhism.

always remember, they teach you everything they know about the brain as understood today in terms of neuroscience.BUT.that which is you.the unquantifiable element of consciousness.which synergistically and magically creates us.is almost never factored into psychology.
and consciousness is the x factor.our connection with nature.never sever that tie.
