Three node mutant(pics)

Check this out......out of ten seeds two where mutants with distorted leaf growth they started out real slow but there flyin now especialy this one its got three branches at each node instead of two i wonder is it male or female and will it have more yield cos more branches

Can't see sex yet...but you have to love our "special" plants.. One of mine came up 2x ass backwards..now its my 2nd best......
 
I think that's actually unhealthy growth. Those aren't 3 nodes. Those are a 1 node and a two node. So basically the 1 node one isn't as healthy since it should have another node opposite it.

That doesn't mean the plant is horrible or anything, but it is less node sites. I've got a few that stretched and have that where they miss a node on one side. They still produce smokeable bud just not as much.
 
yeah its still veggin didnt have alot of hope for it but its catchin up rapid its a super skunk plant
 
a mutant is still a plant, it will grow the same,but just have a lil extra :) i like them, there is nothing unhealthy about them
 
i say its three nodes every half an inch theres 3 branches not 2 like my other plants
 
I knew healthy would be the wrong word to use, replace it with "normal." It's abnormal growth and abnormal growth is not necessarily unhealthy but in this case it is sub-optimal.

Marijuana normally grows bilateral branches. What you have is an abnormal single branch then right after it a normal bilateral branch pair. Think of it this way, you're all happy that you have three nodes but what you should have is four nodes; you're missing one. The node that's missing is one less bud you'll have.
 
you think i hear topping doesnt increase yield too much an there only about 23 days from sprout..check out my journal an tell me what ya think i was gonna veg til there about a foot an a half?

This is one plant I topped..... In addition to the larger colas you see predominately, there are about 10 other med. sized ones that aren't well defined in the picture. I guess I could have just grown one massive cola.... but I rather like how she's turning out.

mmmmm i seen what you i mean i got one lst plant but its still quite small iv been thinkin of topping but i dont want to slow the process down

Understood.

Some strains do better then others with it. On this forum you can click on SEARCH and search on TAGS. Search on topping.... you will find many threads on the subject.

You have a very nice looking plant.... well done and good luck :D
 
I had a couple of widows do that this last grow. You don't need to top, your going to have plenty of colas from that kind of growth. The main problem I ran into was the expanded sideways growth. It was all over each other and the walls. I had to do some trimming to get light to lower growth. And they were extremely healthy and great producers. It made it a very unusual and enjoyable grow. Its called a triploid. They are very rare. Some say they have a tendency to turn male or hermi on you. I don't know myself.
