Thoughts on Indoor vs Outdoor Quality

I’ve done about 10 indoor grows and 4 summer outdoor grows here in SoCal. Wondering what my fellow growers think about indoor vs outdoor. Some swear that outdoor can be more potent; does anybody have any data on that?

Ive grown Purple punch indoor and outdoor from same seed bank this past year, and have done same with Cookies and Sour D in the past, and here are my observations.

Indoor requires more work, but outdoor also requires daily attention due to bugs, mold. Both my Purple Punch plants were monsters. Indoor, it was a 4’ tall beast in a 3 g pot under 600w from wall LED lights, producing 4 oz of colorful, sweet tasting bud. Outdoor, I planted in a 10 fabric pot and got 21 oz of huge, dense buds. In terms of taste and potency, both very similar. But main difference was the much bigger outdoor buds- like golf balls! With outdoor here in SoCal, where night temps rarely drop below 60’s in summer, I have not gotten any purple hues, even with Purp Punch, Granddaddy Purps, Cookies. It is temperature that causes color.

Best part of outdoor is the yield, huge buds and a similar level of potency as indoor. Indoor can give that more crystal coated look and more color, but is the weed better?

I look forward to both indoor and outdoor grows. What are thoughts about merits of each and the quality of the weed?

Quality is genetic. All things being equal, there's no difference between indoor and outdoor grown, soil or hydro grown too, besides yield, of course

I have been growing for a long time the main factor is genetic material but honestly i flowered once in a 4x8 tent using 1 1000w 2k hps and 1 1000w 10k mh the bud quality was out of this world so my vote is with proper light spectrum, great genetics, and a solid nutrient regimen your bud quality can skyrocket indoors.
