thoughts on flowering indoor vs outdoors?

im on my 2nd grow which is primarily an indoor grow. the only time i bring my plants outside is to water due to growing them in my closet and having no drip trays i just water outside, let it dry up a little and bring em back indoors 1-2 hours later.

currently flowering my plants however with my first grow which was outdoors i experienced 1 major issues which is lack of direct light for a long period of time. direct sunlight my plants get per day is anywhere from 5-8 hours only. they do get indirect light the rest of the time and sunsets here around 6pm.

I am wondering what your thoughts of flowering these plants outside in conditions like this. is it worth it or a waste of time? 5-8 hours of direct light only. outdoors has cooler temps then what i can provide in my grow room it's mainly the lack of lighting i have to struggle with.

my first grow buds seemed to be okay i mean they grew nice and fat but not very frosty at all. didnt have a chance to smoke it since we gave the buds away nor was it my seeds so had no say in the harvest. looked pretty decent just wondering if it's worth continuing flowering indoors for a better quality/bigger yields or will my lighting outside suffice.

i mainly ask this as well because i want to flip grows faster. i can't veg outside for sure unless it's a super short veg thus i would veg indoors and flower outdoors

ended up chucking the plants outside to somewhat try and push my growing skills further with my outdoor growing. gonna see what they turn out to be. think im going to continue to do this for some time. veg indoors flower outdoors. just so the plants get more growth during veg before flowering. still would love opinions/thoughts.

If your in the northern us I'd be careful with the temps.

i think im in the southern hemisphere. i live in Hawaii. plants are perked up like mfers though i think it's just from the intensity of the sun though but they are getting less light overall at the same time. they should be fine though because temps are not super crazy based on my hygrometer 80F humidity is around 60 i mean it is kinda high in general but it's not like 90F and 80+ humidity

Dude you can pretty much grow year round lucky you!!!:bigjoint:

that is what people keep telling me but i have a hard time growing them outdoors to a good height. my house gets very little amount of direct sunlight to veg them for a long time. my first grow flowered in like 1 month. i live in the city as well though so lots of tall buildings and my house has a lot of tall tree's/plants that shade where i can keep my cannabis as well so im limited on space outside. i know others can grow easily outdoors but i think they live out of the city where they get more light per day in their areas.

im trying to grow both my skills in indoors and outdoors though but kind of hard since i can't really veg outside unless i run lights. winter time is the worst for us though. we get constant rain almost daily. thats why with my first grow i couldn't even feed her during flowering. she just kept getting rained on surprisingly no bud rot either and they didnt exhibit signs of over watering.

in the future im going to try and amend our garden soil and toss them directly inside the ground see what happens. our garden soil is muddy though feels like clay+mud no aeration to it at all very densely packed when it gets wet. i mean technically yea i can grow all year round but not amazing quality

I think if you dig out a 4x4×4 hole back fill it with coco good soil and aggregate (rocks or clay balls, pearlite) and amendments start it in March April you'll have much better results.

If you can find aged manure it would be even better or compost it yourself for 8-10 months. Check the local rag for aged manure trading post or similar for aged manure it will change everything for you. What you look for is no smell at all and when it runs off its clear.

what i do right now is i keep them in pots but smart pots because i have the worst luck growing anything in plastic pots guess due to over watering. but yea that is what i was planning to do i just started my 3rd grow today. i live with my parents and grandparents though and my grandpa does the main gardening so our garden is really cluttered with hundreds of plants ( literally ) conditions are not amazing in his garden though and he keeps on adding more plants on a daily basis kind of like a plant hoarder.

i know this is fucked up to say in a way but im waiting for him to pass away before i attempt growing in the ground just so i clean up the garden as he highly dislike people putting plants in his garden and will literally kill them off with no fucks given. has done it to my plants many times already luckily they were only tomatoes or bell peppers. we have fruit tree's and what not that produce no fruits because they are so diseased and what not. thus why i kinda started growing to learn how to garden so i can work on the garden in the future. we can easily fit maybe 30 plants outside as our garden is fairly big.

i only see chicken manure which my grandpa uses and it smells really bad for days on end. saw horse manure as well but never used it or know anyone who does. i used to vermicompost though thinking of getting back into that so i can make my own compost teas and help amend the soil sadly my grandpa threw away my worm bin just so he could use the plastic tub as a water storage.

Bribe him with a bottle of whiskey or something he likes trade him for a patch of garden, worth a try

naw he is VERY stubborn. his garden is his baby but at some point it's just too much for him to handle and he just keeps adding more plants. i mean it is what it is but eventually i can experiment.

i get arm size buds from 5-7 hours of light a day

from outdoors? damn thats pretty big. hard to really judge since this is only my 2nd grow both of my grows i fucked up pretty bad on but this one should still yield better quality buds. 1st grow was stunted for weeks due to over watering 4/5 died this way. i was also unsure of the strain as well might of been an auto but we don't know. literally flowered at 6 inches high no training done to it. grew to about a foot tall and biggest bud was maybe 5-6 inches long only. possibly 4 inches at the least. wasn't very frosty either i literally saw almost no frost on the leaves. i need to do a full outdoor grow again kind of discouraged though because from my first grow to what i grew indoors during veg the difference was CRAZY. i grew 3x the plant compared to what i grew outdoors on my first grow.

kinda waiting off until summer time though to start that outdoor grow as well. i just started my 3rd grow today so possibly when i flip these and start my 4th grow it will be summer for us

went to check plants got 3 hours of light in 1 area then had to move them because a bigger tree was blocking all of the light but yea i can roughly get about 5 hours max if i move the plants once a day more if i continue to move them throughout the day.

Ya if temps and time periods don’t fluctuate too much I’d say do it. Otherwise I’d just keep it all inside where you can control it.

temps don't fluctuate that much here unless it storms which is rarely. im just really worried that the lack of sunlight they are receiving and direct sunlight as well won't suffice for good growth. it's hard to be constantly moving plants back and forth on a daily basis. i can leave them in this spot though and they should get more light but at night this spot gets the street lamp as well. i have a 3rd spot but my dad gets super salty when i leave them their because it's visible to people walking by and he gets all nuts thinking people are gonna start coming over and breaking into our house and stuff XD.

So hide it all and keep it inside. Make a grow area in you room. If your parents are cool with you having plants that’s awesome! I would use peak hours of sun just for pure power. I would keep it in and controlled too though. Hope you made some sense of it but are confused at the same time.

naw i understand what you meant. he just is weird always has weird way of thinking like everyone is out to get us over growing a plant legally under legal limits lol. its too late to go back now though because i just started my 3rd grow. these plants have a good 6 more weeks at least to finish. im trying to figure out what i can use to seperate my closet so i can flower and veg both grows. their is a big bar in the way that i can't remove however and i need something fairly flexible like a blanket. this way i can grow the plants indoors for up to 4-5more weeks and then finish outside for 1-2 weeks.
