Thought they were ready to harvest... Any thoughts?

So I've been flushing for the last week, week 7 of 12/12 of my first DWC/Bubbleponics grow, I was thinking harvest time would be coming soon, seeds I used are random mids bagseed and more than half of the pistils had darkened up. As part of my last flush I decided to add some Sucanat dissolved in some warm water to the res. Lo and behold, less than a week later and the buds have not stopped sprouting new pistils and swelling!

I've read so much on molasses and Sucanat with so many varied opinions, but based on my limited experience, I would say this is definitely a good additive.

Now I just wonder how much longer they have - they have cloudy trichomes, many colas have some amber, but now I've got a whole new lot of clear ones, so I'm a bit off kilter, any thoughts?

They will really thicken up in the 2 to 3 weeks. Just give them plain water and hold off on flushing them any more/again.
They need 2 or 3 weeks.

Yeah give it like 2 or 3 more weeks, it looks like it could still fatten up a decent bit. You can tell a difference between when it's still going and when it's about time to harvest.

I would let em grow some more, but watch those trichs closely! If the already milky/amber ones start to mature more, then you should harvest anyways, as you will soon begin to loose THC.

Are the new pistil growths spread around the whole plant or just on smaller buds?

The new pistils are everywhere, I mean there are a couple of new fluff buds, but even on the top colas new pistils have exploded.

I've currently got them on plain water with a very little addition of Suganat. I'll continue to watch the trichs and look for more dead foliage, as there is still plenty of healthy green.

Thanks for all the feedback guys - I'll keep pics posted. One of these plants has such a musky odor, almost like BO or p*ssy, anyone every come across a strain like this? Seems to be a Sativa dominant. I can't wait for her to cure!

Here's some more bud porn for you, they just continue to swell!

I am convinced that sucanat makes a big difference - I'm in week 2 of flowering clones from my first batch and as soon as I added sucanat (@ 1 TBLSP per Gal) flowers appeared to be 2 to 3 times the size they had been at this time last run. To be fair, previous system was using StealthHydro powdered nute mix (not too much fun), this current batch is running GH Flora all the way.

Thanks for the insult, being as this is my first grow, I was only looking for some feedback, like I said, most of the hairs had turned, then I fed the plants sucanat and new white hairs started to appear.

Why does everyone think its ok to insult people who are trying to learn?

Keenly, try not to make yourself look like an asshole in the real world.

Cheers :-)

:bigjoint:Yea they look good bro.. Fuck what everyone says, ask as many fucking questions you need and screw the haters. I am on my first grow and learning from books and asking questions on this forum.. good luck!!:peace:

Hey Loco,

I am right along with you. Cabinet grow 400W I am in week seven,
I have 20% amber and 70% milky but here is like 10% clear trichs too.

Here is a shot, I just updated my journal so it was handy.

IMG_1707.JPG

I Started week 7 with a pre flush with like 25% nutes the first couple days then water with a little sweetener and my buds started growing again. It is kinda strange. I know they fill out but this is different. I guess they are just using up the last of the nutrents.

When it comes to when are they done I did a little looking around and I found this post you may find interesting.

I was here on roll it up

It's actually way more complecated than that. Based on the assumption of indica/sativa ratios, 100% or dominant sativas take longer to mature, but the genetic age of the plant makes the desired harvest time to be based on the color of the trichomes. With sativas you are looking for a clear to milky white. This will retain the up, cerebral, giddy, etc., characteristics of sativas. Indicas mature faster, but in terms of genetic age, you harvest them much later. You'll want to wait til the majority of the trichomes heads have began to turn amber. This is actually the THC degrading into cannabinol. That's not necessarily to say it's bad, if it's correctly timed. The later age of the trichomes on the plant preserve the stony, body, zombie, etc. characteristics of indicas. If you let it grow too long, and you can tell when all or most of the trichomes have turned mostly amber, the cannabinol does replace a large amount of the THC and can result in more of a sleep aid knock you out kind of stone, but it would also be much less potent. Hope that helps.

Sounds about right to me.

Thanks for the encouragement Cruzer! If I knew what these strains were it might be a little easier (bag seed) although at first I thought they were all mainly indica (they had big broad leaves at 6 weeks) now I am not too sure, as most of the leaves on the colas are long and skinny like fingers.

I guess this is part of the experience that I will gain, namely working with known genetics, and not growing too many strains at once =)
