One of the items in your contract that you sign was prob "Miscellaneous" in it. Which means you have to do whatever the manager asks of you.

I have to agree with this. People always say they do hard work while the manager sits in the office with his feet up. And i agree with that as well. But it does not in any way take into account what managers are doing while htye have their feet up. I have managed a company, my job kept me in my office away from heavy lifting and all that lot, but it was stressful as hell. On the most basic of levels it takes a hell of a lot of work to keep on top of invoices and margins. Like with an OS update on your phone, just because you can't see the changes, doesn't mean a hell of a lot is being updated under the hood. I'd spend 2-3 hours a day just updating wastage and requisition spreadsheets for the owners, and if they were not in on time, or accurate, i'd be in for a HELL of a bollocking in comparisson to what a stock room clerk might expect if they put something in the wrong place or made a miscount.

Just remember that a lot of businesses will straight ignore the idea of a contract. Makes it very confusing for the employees.

Funnily enough, i experienced this same kind of thing from the other side of the equation. I was a manager, and found i was being paid less than the cleaners (how in hell can they pay a cleaner £18K a year!?!), so i grabbed my keys and told the powers that be that i was out until they put things in perspective. Luckily i did not go down the route of making threats and ultimatums, i just told them that they needed to look at what was really happening, and it resulted in a happy outcome for everyone.
 
HOLY SHIT YOU ARE MY TWIN! Shitty slave wage worker in a raggedy ass town with a dickhead boss! Its a grocery store, you are not going to be busy 24/7. Sounds like hes just trying to flex nuts like most dickheads. I would do everything in your power to get your unemployement, and I would definately get ahold of the union.

Exactly. It's not like he was unfairly saked, e.g "you're black, you can't work here any more" but it rather sounded like he had reasons for his statements. remember, you might get on well with all your colleagues, but if the boss asks one of them what do you think of X, more often than not it will be a response of "he is good, BUT.." as such giving the boss fair reason to think about getting rid of you.

Law suits should only come into play should there be truly valid reason, not simply because you disagree with your bosses assesment of your performance. I just got out of a job, and i was replaced and told not to come back, before i'd even given my legal notice because they "figured" i'd be leaving at some point in the near . That is a case for a lawsuit. Getting in a row with your boss about the quality of your work and what you should and should not be doing, well, that is not a lawsuit, that's simply a disagreement, you suck it up, you give your notice, and you learn from it.

Arguing with your boss will rarely ever turn out in your favour. I have learnt that the hard way over the years. You live and learn. you do not retaliate and give him an exucse to find any of a thousand ways to legally dismiss you, you talk to them about what can be changed to make things work better.

And my 2 cents on unions... FUCK UNIONS! Why on earth would you opt for a system that will give you short term benefits and long term inflation?

Wish we could help you with your problem man. I am a wage slave also I know what your going through. There are other jobs out there, you just have to keep looking and keep trying.

Told him he had no grounds to fire me and that if he did and tried to fight my unemployment he would lose...which he then told me he wouldn't play those games with me blah blah blah and if i walk away ......
just told him make your mind up what you wanna do cause im not standing here and listening to his shit owner or not.


so you think the douche bag can possibly let his ego go and not fire me.... I don't think he will be able to see me everyday without it being a problem.
i called the union hall and they said fuck him that my job title is maintenance and that they had zero action if he fired me that i could either get my job back or just take unemployment.

think unemployment sounds good especially when the minimum is close to my pay anyways....

Once your already on unemployment ( so your not an employee at this point ) ..... Have friend that you can trust, go in and make an accidental spill of some sort on the floor, possibly where you know there is a camera. You walk in 10 minuets later with shopping cart, have a few groceries and take a dive....make it look real as shit. Take down like a fucking pro......... don't just walk in and slip cause they may say "well why could you not of seen the slippery floor, are you a blind fuck " ..... thats why you use a shopping cart which blocks out lower vision as you come up on the spot..... Fuck his guy.... Let him kiss your ass all the way to his bank account. SORRY, but I personally HATE managers and owners that dog on people. I promise you, it will make you feel a lot better.
 
I once blackmailed my employer. The first time I deserved overtime, it wasn't on my check. When I called him on it, he lied to me and made up some bullshit about how he didn't have to pay overtime. I told him what the Feds and IRS were going to do to him if I made 1 call. He had been lying to dozens of Polish immigrants for at least a decade about wage laws, and tried it with me...he should have just paid me my overtime. LOL!
