Thick Glass = Cooler Smoke?

I smoked a friend's small pipe the other day and it hit a lot cooler (no water). It was a bit smaller than my piece (3") but had much thicker glass (and it was a straight-shaped pipe, whereas mine's a sherlock-shaped pipe).

Does thicker glass make for a cooler smoke? I wanna get a new pipe soon so I was wondering

That was a joke! Did you try smoking the the exact same weed and use the exact same lighter on both pipes to determine the harshness of the smoke? You will have your answer!

yeah same herb, not same lighter. so I'm guessing thickness of glass is not a well known indicator of how hot or cool a pipe hits?

No. Thickness doesn't cool the smoke. Get a water pipe if you want that. Maybe yours was really dirty and his was clean.

nah don't want one, all my friends have bongs, broke mine twice. I like smoking out of a small glass pipe every now & then.

but I think it's because of how small a pipe is. if they're really small (6" or less), then they just heat up really fast causing the temp of the smoke to rise.
