Thermometer placement question

So at the height of my pots (to which seedlings are growing, about 2" tall now)...which is exactly 1 week from planting the non-germinated seed, I have placed my thermometer/hygrometer in the light and in the shade. The reading in the light is approx 80F and in the shade is 75F.

The unit is made of black plastic, so I'm thinking the reading in the light is inflated by the plastic absorbing the light and converting it to more heat for that reading...

Is my assumption correct and should I be paying more attention to the shade reading?

BTW - using the back of the hand test, it's more than fine in terms of the light height.
