The Woodworking Thread

Working with wood makes me feel like a man! My dad was a carpenter by trade for 20 years and since I was a kid I've been around a lot of his projects. We built a bedroom for me when I was 14 by cutting our dining room in half, it was a great learning experience and pretty fun, too! I've been interested in woodworking more seriously the past few years and I'd like to eventually become a person who, when something breaks, the first thought is to fix it myself and have the confidence to do it.

So what have you worked on? What do you like to build? What kinds of tools do you have/use?

A buddy and I built a treehouse when we were 9-10, it was a shitty, amateur, cut-corners product, but we had a ton of fun building it! 2 stories, carpet, a trapped door, and a counterweight attached to a rope and a bucket filled with rocks to escape from the tree quicker! The shit was awesome! We even hooked up some extension cords and brought my older than fuck TV and Playstation, set it up in the 'bottom floor' facing upwards through the trapped door and played Tony Hawks Pro Skater (the OG one!) through it! Built the whole thing with nails and hammers and wood we found while scouring the town! I remember we found a stack of wood like a mile from my house and carried it all the way back just to use for the treehouse! lmao!

I wish I had pictures of it!

Tried to care on a Tagua nut once damn things was like a rock..

I like refinishing furniture more than I like building it. I've refinished quite a few things. The only thing I've built was a computer stand. I took an unfinished night stand, chopped the bottom off, leaving just the top drawer, finished it with some stain and urethane and presto my computer was off the carpet. Yep, built a lot of clubhouses when we were younger.
