The Real PH Question

5.2 or 5.8?

Been reading a lot about different uptakes and always set mine to 5.8 but have been reading 5.2 is better for uptake.

Anyone experimented?

I run ebb & flo in a screen of green. I maintained a steady 5.6 in my 25 gal MR on my last two hydro grows. I have changed to starting each MR at 5.5 and allowing the PH to slowly rise to 6.4 before reducing in 2 cycles to 5.6. I have not harvested yet using this method I have 2 weeks left on this crop. However, I have recorded a significant difference in bud size and density. In 4 weeks after trimming, drying, curing I can give you percentage of change in yield.
I have bought in to the idea that the plant takes up different nutrients at different rates at different PH levels. I allow the PH to fluctuate within a set range. I never adjust more than 0.5 in a single flood cycle, and I do not allow the PH to fluctuate more than 1.0 point.

I let it drift a bit from 5.6-6.1ish but I usually try to maintain pH at 5.8-6.0. 5.2 seems a bit on the low side.

Other sure how accurate this chart is.

I use coco and like to stay in the 5.8 to 6.2 works great for me..

5.2 is to low problems will start in that range.

Always ran 5.8,

Must have been reading bad info, glad I asked before I tried something that would fuck with my yield.

Thanks guys.

I have noticed that my EC drops more rapidly during the last 3-4 weeks of flower while the PH is above 6.0. The best PH for rapid drop in EC that I experienced is 6.2 - 6.4

I used to try and set for around 5.6 and let it drift up to about 6.2. Veg is usually a little lower( 5.6-6.0) than flower(5.8-6.2). I find lower PH seems to help with rooting clones when using my tap water @ 5.4-5.8. since I've gone to RO and have a good handle on what my nutes are doing..i haven't checked PH in weeks..lol..dump the res, add water, add measured nutes, turn it on..simple.
