"Surely we have created man from the dust of the ground, we mean to try him" Muhammad

Have you found the timeless, the eternal, the immortal self within?

Here is my rendition of what I believe to be the famed Philosophers Stone, the Emerald Tablet by Hermes

The Homeric hymn dedicated to hermes states that he is the bringer of knowledge from the Immortal world to the Mortal world, judging by the vast amount of Truth and Wisdom portrayed in both the Illiad and the Odyssey, two of the first recorded texts in western history, it is my assumption that Homer himself is the original author of the tablet.

The Philosophers Stone

The Emerald Tablet by Hermes

1: This is the Truth, the entire Truth, the absence of illusion
2: As above so below, and as below so above, with this balance alone can you truly Love the world, for the worker of all wonders is Space
3: All things exist in and emanate from Love which is the ultimate Cause, and as all things are from the One, by means of the meditation of the One, thus all things were born from the One, by means of adaptation, and all things sprang from this essence through a single projection, how marvelous is its work, it is the principle part of the world and its custodian
4: The Sun is your Father the Moon is your Mother
5: The wind carried you in her belly; the Earth nourished you and guarded you
6: You are the Father/Mother of all things; perfect is the power that reveals the Light
6a: Love is the cause of all perfection; the Eternal will is contained in you
7: On Earth your power is perfected
7a: It is a fire that became our earth, separate the Earth from the fire, the densest from the faintest, and you shall adhere more to that which is subtle than that which is coarse, that which is Light than that which is dark, through care and wisdom
8: Rise above the world and art in Heaven, extract the Light from the Eternal Sea and be here on Earth containing the power of the Heavens above and the Earth below for you are the purest Light, therefore the darkness flees from you
9: The world will be illuminated and confusion will fly from you, thus you will have the Glory of the world, regardless of an abject fate
10: It is power, strong with the strength of all power, for it will penetrate all mysteries and dispel all ignorance, the mortal soul will flee and the Heavens, and the Sky and the entire Earth will be known as it truly exists
11: This was the means of the creation of the world; the structure of the microcosm is in accordance with the structure of the macrocosm
12: And from it are born wonderful adaptations, of which the way is given here
13: That is why I have been called Hermes Tristmegistus, having the three elements of all Wisdom: logic, conscience and intuition
14: Thus ends the revelation of the work of the Cosmos, the work of the Sun and the Moon, and the wind and the Earth

From a Buddhist perspective a Mother's love is an example of faith and devotion to the happiness of others. Nichiren describes a woman who gives her life to save her child. Both drown but the mother is reborn as king wonderful adornment based on her love for her child. This is a Buddhist example of love. Peace.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not a Buddhist but find great wisdom in its teachings. I regard Siddhartha as a prophet who taught the very same enlightenment as Jesus and Muhammad. I know that is probably not your view and I respect that. Namaste

The Buddha has many names, Sidartha, Shakyamuni, Prince Sidartha of the Shakra Clan, and many more.

Sidartha was not just a profit, like others, he was a regular person that left his royal status to discover how to overcome the Four Universal Sufferings, Birth, Death, Old Age and Sickness, that which we all cannot escape. Through his meditation, Sidartha discovered the power to become The Buddha was within his very life, and so also, the Life of all other lives. this can be described as Three thousand Realms (worlds) in a single moment of life. The Enlightened Life of the Buddha, Sidartha or Shakyamuni, is no different than our own life. We, you and I are Buddha's just like Sidartha or Shakyamuni was, equal in merit and enlighte4nment.

Enlightenment in modern terms can be best described as True Happiness, based on non-material belongings or current situation. Happiness based on an internal compass is enlightenment, and can be expressed from moment to moment, until one expires, called a life time. We are all Buddha's with all the abilities Sidartha or Shakyamuini possessed. We can perform the six easy and nine difficult tasks, described in The Lotus Sutra, the Buddha's highest teaching, with ease, including threading a needle from the 3000 rhi away, the heavens.

Being happy in the moment you abide in true happiness. peace
We are All Buddhist. The Buddha's teachings are the teachings of life. When we awaken to that we become a Buddha too!

When Siddhartha was asked "what is enlightenment" his response was very simple "the end of suffering". Do you feel you have attained enlightenment? Can you recognize the Eternal Peace, Bliss and Love that emanates from within, even in a situation that would cause most people to react with high emotions? If so I am very interested in how you have achieved Eternal Peace. Could you share some of your experience?

That is true enlightenment, when the four sufferings or Poison's become Medicine to spur one forth yet again.. I have practiced a form of meditation called chanting nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the name of enlightenment given by the Buddha himself. The Lotus Sutra's title translates to Myoho Renge Kyo, The Wonderful Law of he Simultaneity of cause and Effect, which Nichiren discovered as not just the title of he Sutra but the Sutra's heart and intent.

I have many experiences due to my faith practice of chanting nam myoho renge kyo. Four years ago, I decided I was tired of my ex-wife having affairs on me. I told her on my birthday, I was unhappy. She was in the middle of an affair with someone I know, ex friend and current Buddhist. She left me, took me, sued me, hired lawyers to make my life difficult. I chanted two hours a day, everyday. because I am an orphan, my birthday is screwed up and I have two birthday's, on two different years, same day. Federal government recognizes one and state government recognizes another. I was too young to retire from government, and my ex-wife knew this, because she had made a copy of my DL while I slept. I used to have a home office.

When we got to court, she wanted alimony. All her and our kids are grown, no child support. She sued for alimony, first for monthly separation, but I chanted for that not to happen and it did not. A year later she dragged me into family court, demanding monthly alimony. I no longer work, small retirement, no social security, not old enough, and I chanted for 12 hours to win in court. I told my lawyer to go talk to the judge and demand fairness for me. She did, and the Judge ruled in my favor and the ex only got $100/month until I accept social security.

Now comes the suffering that has to be transformed. I learned karma is forever. No matter what. However, we can transform that karma from bad to good. karma is like the stars shining in the night. when the sun comes up the stars are still there just not visible in the sun light. nam myoho renge kyo is the sunlight. I have to transform the loss of my family now. I have two biological children and two step daughters. All my step daughters after 40 years have sworn me off, long with my own daughter. My son remains close to me and expresses his love to me regularly. The susffering lies in my three daughters that act just like their Mother now, or perhaps always did. So daily I chant for their happiness, as I know they are not happy. Each of my three daughters helped their Mother have affairs at their houses on vacations my ex-wife would take regularly, as I owned a business and worked 24/7.

I get up each day, hoping today will be the day my three daughters change their heart. but if it is not, I pray that much harder for them today. I have grandchildren I have not seen in four years now, and may never see ever again until they are grown and seek me out on their own. One day my daughters will change, until than I have to love them just as they are, hating me.

In Buddhism, this is called turning Poison into Medicine. Drinking poison and hoping for the other person to die does not work.. The poison must be transformed or it will kill me, not them.

Anyone can do this, The Buddha did it, or so can all of us. The power lies within only. The entire power of the universe lies within our own fingertips.

The most important point is, The Buddha was a good teacher. Buddhism requires a good teacher. However, the Buddha's words are difficult to understand, and one needs a teacher that is living that can help with understanding. The Buddha taught the concept of Mentor and Disciples. The Buddha had many disciples, well taught by the Buddha during his lifetime. Now, the Buddha is not here in person, but his words remain. The Buddha taught 84,000 teachings. Discovering the Highest teaching is he first goal. Living b y that teaching is the final goal. A good teacher is necessary to discern good behavior from bad behavior. I have a mentor, his name is Daisaku Ikeda, taught by his mentor Josei Toda, taught by his mentor Tsunesaburo Makiguchi. peace.

Very enlightening words thanks again. This is strictly my opinion and I am not trying to change your mind in any way "you do not send a physician to those who are healthy " JC
Siddhartha Gautoma was perhaps the first person to awaken and attain the state of being that we now call enlightenment. You are right he was a great teacher, he tried his best to pass on his wisdom so that others could awaken themselves. I personally believe that Jesus and Muhammad were also great teachers of enlightenment, both following the same mentor and disciple way of teaching. Now today there are many teachers of enlightenment and the awakening of humanity has begun. A book I would highly recommend is "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle if you haven't already read. I think you would be interested. There is much I could learn from you I am very interested in Buddhism, I'll keep in touch

thank-you for the kind and thought provoking questions.
I have read Eckhart Tolle, he is nice reading. I have also read Abraham-Hicks, and a few others.

I have heard others speak of Moses, Jesus, Muhammad as Teachers, as well. All have taught the truth of life, but people have polluted the message, ergo why a teacher is so important. A teacher does not have to be a spiritual person, just a knowledgeable one trained by their own teacher. I learned martial arts the same way, found a good teacher. All teachers are not equal. I was raised Eastern Thinking, even though I was raised in a Western World. It was a choice I made as a child to embrace the teachings of Buddhism, after I had explored, Judaism, Catholicism, Christianity, etc. by the age of 7. I asked all the religious leaders the same question.

How can a child be born into this world, having harmed no one, and be subject to abuse and scorn by others?

All the Religion Leaders said it was God's Will. I asked how or why would God choose to harm one of his own children, and there was silence. No answer.

One day the person I respected most asked me, "What was on my mind?" I asked him the same question I asked all these religious leaders. His answer was simple, KARMA! I explained karma to me, and I accepted that as the only rational answer to my dilemma.

I accepted The Buddhist answer and began practicing Nichiren Buddhism, chanting nam myoho renge kyo daily, since then, as it has given me the answer I was seeking. I may have made the causes in the past; words, thoughts, and deeds; but I am making noble causes in thought, word, and action now, creating a brighter future from this moment forward.

Eckhart Tolle talks about Living in the Moment. I read that book too. I liked it, because it helps to stop the victimization most of us suffer with daily. The Why Me?

Instead Why NOT me? I am A Buddha capable of enduring and transforming karma easily. That is why I am alive, one of the four sufferings transformed into a noble cause. A lie with purpose is a valuable life. My mentor taught me that also. My mentor has taught me every positive thought I have learned to embrace over the years. I used to question him, when I was younger, now I do not. I understand much more now.

It is he heart that matters most. the heart of the Lotus Sutra is nam myoho renge kyo and the heart of the human being is the same. Happiness also lies in the heart or the person that loves their mother and father. Hell lies in the heart of the person that despises their mother or father. All the realms of the human and Buddha world reside in the same heart.

My Mentor taught me, "The Purpose of Faith is to have a healthy and fulfilling life." My Mentor also taught me to find The Buddha's words in everything I read, from War and Peace to The Bible, and The Art of War a favorite of My Mentor, as well.

One more thought.

The Buddha teachers that life is eternal, neither created nor destroyed. We, human beings have no power over life to create or destroy life. Nichiren says, "When causes and conditions are correct, life springs forth." That could be spring flowers in my mind. people are like flowers too.. Even though we appear to kill people, people's lives live on like smoke from a burning log. Always here.

The Buddha says, "Although I appear to enter Nirvana, I am always here." Nirvana is another term for death to The Buddha. Like taking a nap and awaking again from a nap. The Buddha also says we are all just like him, and all of his merit belongs to us, not the other way around. We also have the same eternal life and we are always here too, abiding in The Buddha's Wisdom in this reality with the rest of the Buddha's

These are only my opinions and are neither serious nor important. About the child who has been abused. Jesus speaks about Satan(the clever demon who possesses people's souls by sowing in the heart) the and Muhammad speaks of Shatan(the energy that causes evil). Tolle speaks of the pain body and the ego; the way I teach is that it(pain body) is the devil, Satan, Shatan, Lucifer (what ever name you want to call it) residing within and rising up and conquering the mortal soul(ego).

The reason I do that is to remind people not to identify with these energies of the heart and mind and to realize that they have an intelligence of there own, they are capable of conquering the human mind and thus the will, causing evil if it is deeply sown in the heart (sub conscious).

About your family. I'm reminded of a passage from the new testament about a Shepard who lost 99 sheep and he found only one but the one that was found the Shepard loved even more. The Shepard is god and the one that is found is the one who has attained enlightenment, but I am saying that the Shepherd is you and the one that is found is your son. He is not carrying the heavy burden of past, he has forgiven himself and the world, be grateful for the Love you share and just know that your daughters do love you, it's just that they are not as conscious as your son, they are trapped in the darkness, the spell of time.

@New Age United That is a nice analogy. thank-you.

The reason I ask about the abused child, is because i know from reading he Bible Jesus or God would never abuse or harm a child, and neither would Muhammad or Allah as they have to much respect for life. Buddhism teaches the function of Evil is not removed from Good. Good and Evil are opposites of the same coin. without evil there is no good, without good there is no evil. There are relative as in the formula theory of relativity or just two opposites of the same.

Nichiren teaches that both Good and Evil spring forth from the same mind. Indicating that all people have the capacity to be either good or evil. it is a choice each person makes either actively or inactively. Not standing up to evil is evil, standing up to evil is good. Evil is defined as creating negativity in another life. Good is defined as creating positivity in another life.

Religions teach that evil is removed from reality, when in fact evil is reality. The Devil is not evil, people do evil things, doing the "devils work." people and religions like to give responsibility of evil to something outside themselves, when in fact the only actionable lives on the planet earth are humans, not gods or devils. In the modern era assigning evil acts to the Devil in hell when in fact people are suffering from the acts of other humans, not the Devil or God. people lack responsibility for their own actions.

My mentor teaches Gods are merely functions of life, not control life. In Eastern Culture there is a God for everything; Sun, Moon, Flowers, Grains, etc; but these Gods do not control people, just provide a sense of comfort. People make other people happy or sad. That is the real comfort in life. people. We are all actors on a stage. As actors, are we bringing joy and happiness to others, or misery and unhappiness to others. That is a measure of our individual humanity and the quality of life's play, considering others equal to ourselves.

My three daughters from a Buddhist perspective, is the function of the Devil King of The Sixth Heaven. The most notorious Devil in all of Buddhism. Nichiren teaches, when one of his disciples or followers is about to attain Buddhahood, The three Obstacles and Four Devils will appear to confuse and distract you. I practice diligently daily, so the Devil king cannot enter my body or mind. So the Devil King enters the minds and bodies around me to confuse and distract me. But I am not distracted and continue on my path of enlightenment, just as the Buddha did under the Bodhi Tree, when Mara appeared at the last moment to distract The Buddha from attaining his enlightenment. Just as it happened to the Buddha it happens to each of us, as he was prepared to achieve his enlightenment. That is why I pray for their happiness, because the Devil king cannot live in a Happy place. The Devil King needs misery to thrive. peace.

I guess it is a question of free will; do we actually have free will?
Let me share some of my experience. I am a psychopath; I have all three traits of the dark triad. An estimated 5% of the population are psychopaths, are we truly responsible for the evil we create or does volition belong solely to the mind and the mind is dictating what we do. For many years i was a very very dangerous person, very dangerous thoughts and emotions taking place that I felt powerless against. What little bit that was left of my conscience almost led me to suicide, I was very close, I was certain that if I didn't end my life immediately I would cause a very serious evil and tremendous suffering for others.

That's when I was shown the Light, that's when I found the unbreakable peace bliss and love within. It was by recognizing my true self as pure unconditioned awareness and by recognizing that I am not the Thinker In my head that I was able to surrender and by doing so I stopped giving power to my thoughts and emotions, I was able to bring the light of awareness directly to the thoughts and emotions and recognize them as not self, and without my identification with them the ego eventually lost momentum. I am also a paranoid schizophrenic, it was a matter of survival for my thoughts and emotions to stop; I understand that with most people the need for enlightenment is not so crucial. I never did commit an evil act but if I had I will honestly tell you from an insiders perspective that I did not have a choice, it is all cause and effect taking place in the mind. I was born a very evil person, but in my opinion a psychopath or even a pedophile is no more responsible for their actions than a drug addict is responsible for their addiction.

Tolles opinion is that if looked at from the highest perspective everything is happening for a reason, a sort of game that God is playing and that the reason for human suffering is to cause enough pain that we are forced to awaken. I teach about the devil bc when you take a good look at the inner workings of the heart and mind of someone you would call inherently evil, it really does seem to be a possessing entity, the person has no free will. But there is a way for an inherently evil person to overcome their demons, enlightenment.

If I err, I err only against my own soul, for in the Light i know Allah's will as my own will

These are the words of a man who has overcome his thoughts and emotions and has found the peace that passes all understanding. I found peace, and with nothing but peace and bliss in my mind and body there is nothing but love in my heart. A psychopath that has learned how to love, that is the power of enlightenment; if the light does not have the power to change the world then nothing does.

Yes. We have free will. At least I have free will to choose as I please.

Interesting, a friend I taught how to chant nam myoho renge kyo is similar to you. She wanted to be a energy healer and she is now. She distance heals instantly.

My mentor teaches the mind is fickle. it is the heart that matters most. Our mind changes faster than we can blink our eyes. Our hearts however, remain consistent. I noted earlier, The person that despises their Mother or Father, has the world of Hell in their heart. A person that understands the debt of gratitude owed to One's Parent's is the world O Enlightenment. Buddhism teaches of the Ten world model from Hell, Hunger, Anger, Animality as the Lower worlds, Rapture and Absorption as the Lower paths, and Realization, Learning, Bodhisattva, and Buddhahood as the Noble worlds. Ten in all. All of these life states also possess the Life of The Buddha and the Person, indicatng Both can attain enlightenment, as it resides within the heart of the human not the head.

Thinking is the EGO, Feeling is the Universe.
