[h=1]“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.”[/h]Edward Bernays, Propaganda

And you're a parrot for the whack jobs, wtf is the difference?

LOL, more personal attacks and insults. No substance whatsoever. Do you deny that gas prices are higher or are you just coming after me and anything I say?
My goodness, don't you people ever think about what you spew?

youre pissing into the wind bro.

the plebs have been told since the creche that we have a "Free Press" and they are the guardians of truth and objectivity.
you will be unable to convince the plebs that they have been lied to, since this would destroy the world they have constructed around them.

until they see the lies themselves they will believe. just like religions, blind faith traps the believer in an endless cycle of seeking the truth from the very bastards who crafted the lies they question.

I know, Doc, I know... but just as I was once one of the deceived, I found my way out. From a very young age, I decided to always seek the truth, no matter where it leads. It lead me through the progressive/neocon mindset only to show me how vain it is.

Also, I am passionate about a Constitutional United States, I think we should at least try it before changing everything. It's not a perfect solution to governance but it's an idea that has not been given a chance.

Socialism and collectivism is fine when kept at small numbers, like the family. I don't know many families that are democratic. The idea that the state or in this case, the dictatorship, owns everything and the chillins (serfs) conduct themselves within the parameters of the parents (overlords). Thankfully, most of the time they are benevolent dictatorships but can be tyrannical, just the same. But, just the same as government, the larger it gets, the more evil it becomes. One problem is that we are teaching our chillins to be collectivists for life, instead of teaching them to stand on their own, question authority and think for themselves.

What I notice more than lame stream media parrots, are the Sunday morning chosen ones. Remember gravitas? and weapons of mass destruction?

Our gas is dropping, and has been over the last weeks.. we're 30 cents cheaper than mid-February.

Nobody can silence the corporate news and pointing out how full of shit they are isn't going to stop people from watching. It's not as if everyone suddenly gasps and exclaims "You mean I've been lied to all this time?!". People that take interest in the world around them will turn to better sources of information. There will always be plenty of naive and intellectually lazy people around to consume corporate news.

oh, my! a finite, volatile resource with inelastic demand increased in price?

heavens to betsy, thank goodness you took a break from your mustachioed hookers and cartel schwag to inform us!

whatever would we do without you?

Leave it to a nine year old mentally challenged little girl with early onset puberty to TOTALLY miss the point.

"corporate news" is a fallacy. all news delivery systems are "corporate" since the purchase of presses/transmitters is too expensive for any but the wealthiest, and collection of the information and translating it from raw data to a story that can be understood by the customers requires extensive bullpens of writers editors and reporters. the only wat to have "non-corporate news" is to read blogs, and pamphlets, and these are subject to the same REAL issue as the major media outllets:

AGENDA

agenda driven news is the problem, but thats why we are supposed to have a "Free Press" so we can receive more than one opinion.
the "Legitimate Press" is dominated by the editorial opinions of the left and the major media outlets which are run by the left. the newswires like rueters, bloomberg AP, and others, as well as the editorial boards of big publications like the Guardian, LA Times, Chicago Tribune and the NY Times control most everything that hits the "Mass Media".

the domination by a few powerful editorial boards and the few major newspapers and networks is NOT an accident, william randolph hearst developed a plan to manufacture the opinion of the entire nation by controlling the 20 largest newspapers back at the start of the 20th century, and it worked very well.

the lack of freedom of thought in the newsroom is the problem, not fox news, sky news or corporations as a form of commercial organization, it's the result of a calculated plan to render opinion into a commodity which can be altered at the whim of a small group of people with an agenda.

critical thinking is the cure, but the press discourages thought, in favour of repeating the mantra they provide, and if there is only one mantra thought doesnt have a chance since dissent, questions or doubt are "Racist" or "Fringe Lunacy"

but then what do i know, im just a racist homophobic bircher neo-con. these are the labels you get when you question the official story.

i was responding directly to the question posed, ma'am.

Funny that you understand what "consent" means when you want to, but put that word into a greater context and you default to it means whatever the government says it means.

Oh and you forgot to add to your slander of Mr neutron the part about mustachioed hookers.

what are you getting at? that if a 9 year old girl agrees to your sexual advances, it's all good? she doesn't need the government protecting her by defining normative ages of consent, that 9 year old girl can consent to your pedophile sexual advances?

that's pretty sick stuff. no wonder you want a pony so badly.
