The next upgrade...which one?

I have a cool-tube, but it's the cheapest of cheap with the screw on reflector "wings".

I have enough $ to upgrade either OR, not both.

3x3 flower tent, 400w HPS
---
A - the 30x30in, big ass Sunlight supply Blockbuster reflector

or

B - Upgrade my ballast to 600w and get 600w bulb

I'm thinking I'll get similar levels of improvement from both, and the Blockbuster is better now because I'll be using the same Watts and getting way more light than I have now.

That way you could run a 600w in the yieldmaster on your next upgrade.

Would the yeild master be better than the block buster once I move to the 600w?

Short term would it be worse than the horrible reflector I have?

I'd probably only need to use my 400w in it for 2months or so...

Deffinately new six hundered over 400 watt refector upgrade...deffinately. 400s, as you will see if you switch, are worthless. T5s are wven better

no contest, get the 600 set up. Next round, get a better AC hood. I would highly highly suggest the super sun II.

You don't need a huge hood for the space you have. A super sun II placed 16" above the plants creates an extremely even 3.2' by 35" swath of light.

If you plan on upgrading both in the next few months then i would ask 1 question. What INCH is your cooltube? IMO from experience regardless of fan power i feel the lamp placement of a 600w in a 5inch Diameter cooltube is too close to the glass and it heats up the glass.

However if your cooltube is a 6inch already then my recommendation would be upgrade to the 600w and then purchase the blockbuster later.

I use a 440CFM fan on my blockbuster 600w with its own cold air intake and i use a seperate fan for filter/exhaust.

What size fan do you currently have?
