The most ghetto/successful unorganized first grow!

I started from seed, germinated them in a moist paper towel, planted three of five and removed the two smallest ones before even sexing them. I used a 9W fluorescent tube which I turned off at night during veg for two weeks until I was educated to keep 24/0. Upgraded to a piece of shit plant light. then a 100W incandescent. then a 13W CFL. I started to flower 4.5 weeks ago and upgraded to (two) 28W CFLS with the ghetto-est set-up. Well, I got super lucky and turned out a female! She has really taken off! This is my first grow and I have learned a boat load since, I need tips from expert growers! I grow for personal use and only have a space of 4x4x5 I am into the highest quality bud so besides getting the right strain what practical stuff should I do for my next indoor/soil grow? I know my current set-up is ghetto as hell but I didnt even plan to go thru with the grow, but the next batch is where I will evolve!!!

hey man, she going nice

For the next grow i think you should try this :

FOr the space you got there, 3 200w(54 000 total lumens) cfl's should do well , or try doing a hood out of cfl's (like the one in my grow, check it out in my signature)

line the wall's with mylar. if you have trouble finding any or it is too expensive, but a few car window shader's, not the 1 $ ones, they are shit, go for the 2-3$ ones, they are made out of mylar.

get some cheap computer fan's4-5-6 of them and getto wire them to a 12 v phone charger and you will grow some insane bud.

Wow that plant looks fantastic for what you had to grow it with! As far as slow upgrades, just keep buying those CFLs and get yourself a fan or two, you will notice a huge difference! If you give us a ballpark of what your price range is for your next grow, and how many plants you want, we can definitely help you out with what to buy.

Im definitely willing to spend a little extra dough, If I go the HPS or MH route which seems more effective and efficient I'd spend around 300 bucks, If there were a bomb CFL setup i wouldn't mind spending the same... As well as the nutes required...

I have been a little more strict on my light timing... However I feel like i'm in a rut. I know that CFL's don't produce as much bud as a HID system, however, the flowering has slowed down a lot, I believe theres about 3-4 weeks left in flowering but some triachomes are already orange and some are amber, should I pluck the mature buds or just wait??? Also once harvested would it be a good idea to process the entire plant then boil in butter???

I agree with SSmokeeennn the more lights the better and air circulation is a must. also a quick note that if mylar is not an option for you then just paint the area with flat white paint. it actually reflects light better than other things like aluminum foil and other shiny things. Also grab a ph meter as i've learned in the past that ph makes a huge diff in the way your girls takes her nutes.

as far as your current grow goes, lookin good so far. looks a lot like my first (successful) grow. It's normal for the hairs to start turning redish orange a few weeks before shes ready. grab a microscope and check out the trics. I've even used a cheap usb microscope in the past with great results. usually want a cloudy/milky coloring with about 20-40% amber coloring. keep up the good work bro. happy growing. https://www.rollitup.org/members/ssmokeeennn-219327.html

Ok so if your spending cap is 300 dollars, here's what you want. Hop on craigslist and grab a 400w MH setup. There are old shop lights for sale that are in the 30-50 dollar range all the time. Then run http://store.bulbstock.com/22847.html here and grab yourself a conversion bulb. There's lighting taken care of. Don't skimp on your nutes, you'll want to leave a hundred or so aside for that. Without knowing what medium you plan on using it's hard to recommend what to grab. So with the final 100 dollars, grab your timer(s) (thrift stores often have these for a dollar), pump(s), and air system. The cheapest way to do air is home depot. You can grab 6" 250 cfm squirrel fan for around 25 bucks. Your ducting is around 9 dollars. With the final 40/50 bucks, grab yourself a ph pen. You won't find one this cheap at a store, you are going to have to shop online. Trust me, you won't regret having a ph meter!

Im in the 8th week of flowering and don't have a microscope... how can I tell when this girl is in her prime to chop?

Well to tell exactly when is difficult without a microscope, but there are tricks you can do. To start though, you should know that the less light you have, the longer it takes for your medicine to mature. We are still looking at mostly flowers here. Those flowers will swell into buds, and they will look like what you get from the guy on the corner. Once most of the white hairs have turned red, you know you are close. Keep posting pics and I'll let you know when she is getting close. I have a feeling that she didn't realize she was in flowering mode for quite a bit. Maybe because of the lower light conditions, or because of a light leak. The reason that I say that is at your 8th week of 12/12 they should be more mature. Don't fret though, she looks healthy and you will get there.

im on my 1sr grow and my shit is over ghetto my grow box is made from clothes rails lol made it into a box shape and i fiiled out the rest im using led's and fcl. im 8 weeks into flowering and like u and dont know when 2 chop them.
and i have 2 admit mine are more thick bud i say i have more than 50% red hairs. im this is my 1st seccesfull grow.

I do believe there was a light leak, which sucks cause I know it can delay maturity days to weeks, I can't complain this grow was on a whim and I only spent like 30 bucks so harvesting an eighth is more than expected!!! I will have more pics up next week. Thanks for all the advice!!!

that plant has a long way to go yet mate, i would go ahead and buy a HID system and nutes and more seeds and keep that plant going and throw in some seed and do a 12/12 from seed grow.

i reckon you will get 15-20grams atleast if you let that bitch finish properly.

Hell yah! I am growing for personal use so I am ordering a 150W HPS/MH SunSystem as well as a bubbleponics set-up... I can't believe my girl has made it this far with the very little I put into it... But most def will I be using an HID system for the next grow... The only question is now... Sativa again or Indica???
