The Left and Logical Fallacies.

Anyone here who isn't on the far Left but has ever discussed politics with them knows that the Left rarely addresses any issue on its merits. Instead, what they do is use any number of logical fallacies to try to toe their party line no matter how absurd their position.

The most common is the ad-hominem attack which is Latin for "against the man." Basically, this is a personal attack against someone who puts forth an argument instead of a legitimate refutation of the person's argument. It is the first fallacy listed in this link.

Note the numerous personal attacks on Glenn Beck that lack any attempt at a legitimate refutation of any of his points. By the way, did anyone hate him when he was on CNN?

Anyway, I strongly urge everyone to poke around on this website. Great stuff to know.

Yeah,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Duh? I hated his Ideas about after the second time I saw his perverted Ideas, on CNN. I always said he needed to move to FOX, mission complete. He now abides with all the other crazies.
BTW, as far as refuting the right's positions, how does one refute craziness? It is totally illogical to even begin to argue with idiocy and craziness, IE Beck, Hannity, Palin, Limbaugh etc.

Like I said, how does one argue with crazies???
You post their argument and then use logic to demonstrate why they are incorrect. Its called legitimate debate; something you don't experience too much on the Left. But hay, why address an argument on its merits when you can simply call the person a name.

How can one have an articulate debate with someone that spells hey "hay"? Hay is for horses, cows, etc. The arguements being espoused by the right aren't intelligent enough to debate anyway. It is pure hate and illogical reasoning. You can't debate crazy!
Please explain why single payer health care is a bad Idea. If you put forth a reasonable arguement, yours, not someone else's, I'd be glad to debate you. Every time I debate one of you right wing crazies, you come back with some lamester like Glenn Beck, or Ann Cuntler. Think for yourself man.

I'm not about to spend the time required to argue why socialized medicine is a bad idea. Besides, I think there are a number of economists that would do a much better job. If someone else wants to its their prerogative.

However, since you are the one attacking a whole list of people, why don't you pick any one article written by any of those people and demonstrate why it is incorrect. It shouldn't be very hard, most of them have written books and appear on TV daily.

Perhaps you might want to demonstrate exactly what makes these people "crazy" since you keep making that assertion.

Hey Med O'Mao ...

Where the hell have you been hiding out? Man, stop by more often, will ya? I miss goring your sacred oxen.

And talking about hate, weren't you the guy that sent me the Private Message threatening to put a .45 slug between my eyes?

And by the way (again), are you disenchanted with O'bama yet?

And ... why aren't you posting pictures of flagged-draped coffins returning from Afghanistan?

Hey Natrone takes the Bait too, hes a bit more direct than med, no beating around the bush just goes right in for the attack with the very first sentence. Notice how he has been brainwashed by the progressives to never argue anything with merit, just attack attack attack, thats all they know how to do. They lose every argument and then go cry.

Have you guys ever considered for a moment that our 2 party system exists because NEITHER side has the "absolute" answers to every question?

There are conservative ideas with merit, just as there are liberal ideas with merit. There are loony conservatives, and loony liberals. It isn't a party-line issue, it's the HUMAN CONDITION.

I find it ironic that you post this ad hominem attack on liberals to aid in proving your point that liberals use ad hominem attacks.

There's a word for that....hm.....what is it? Oh - that's right. Hypocrisy.

NoDrama, I almost expected better than this from you. Almost.

I love how the two of you generalize liberals to be this bunch of people who can't communicate without insulting the other party, while all you're doing is insulting the other party.

"Liberals are stupid" has never won a debate, nor has it made liberals cry themselves to sleep.

Freedom from the grasp of both sides and true liberty will not be achieved by the perpetuation of the present system.

Both Republican and Democrats fail to grasp the true meaning of freedom. The only goal of government should be the protection of individual liberty. Neither side allows this.

The role of government, as dictated by the US Constitution is to:

Establish justice, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.

Our present system, I agree, is a gross mutation of what it was meant to be.

If "we the people" are going to take back OUR power from these corporate entities who now control the government, then we need to ensure that corporations aren't allowed to "donate" money to our representatives in order to persuade them to vote a certain way - and come up with a system that encourages direct participation of our citizens in the legislative process. We need to weed out the representatives who take money from corporations and ignore the genuine desires of their constituents and replace them with representatives who promote the general welfare of the PEOPLE, not the corporations.

You should look into the phrase "promote the general welfare." I guarantee it doesn't mean what you think it does. That is why the term "general" appears in the phrase. It only means that the Government should do things like build roads and such, not that they should guarantee everyone a living. In fact Madison discussed this in more detail and explained this. Read up on it.

You realize you just proved the OPs point, right?

And you call Fox crazy.

"How do I refute crazyiness?"

crazyiness is simply a matter of opinion.

Why don't you try debating the policies, for a start, not just calling them crazy.

Proving the OPs point in the very next post makes me laugh so hard.

Exactly. Doob is so far left its unreal.

Doob, since when has the government EVER taken care of anyone (who is mature and responsible) in history? People take care of themselves. Simple as that. Unless of course you are still stuck in mommy/daddy land, which I believe you are.

Being taken care of by the government is like moving out of your parents house after high school graduation only to move back two weeks later because you are too irresponsible to take care of yourself.

Doob, the rent check from mommy should be in your mail anytime now.

(if you can't tell, im not being literal with all this, its a metaphor for what LIBERALS wants the gov. to do for them)
