The Influence of Pink Floyd.

I was past High School when the Brick came out. Just now watching the vid.

We don't need no education.
We don't need no thoughts controlled.

The vid is quite good, but can't help but wonder how many 40-50 yr olds were directly affected by these lyrics.

If you dropped out or worce because of this song's meaning, tell us your story.

Anyone care to wager a guess? How many total, world wide.

My many trips through the looking glass were often accompanied by the music of Pink Floyd, but I don't feel the music had any real influence on my dropping out of HS.

I dont think the music in anyway helped in my choice of dropping out, just plumb bored to death in class, I think peer pressure had more to do with my dropping out than anything else, it is good music though...havent heard that song in ages thank you for the share

I dropped out.. And agreed with them.. But I didn't drop out to agree with them.

But I'm not 40 - 50 so not sure if I'm supposed to answer.

First time I heard Pink Floyd was the first time I smoked. I was in high school, staying the night at a friends house. His sister went down to Haight-Ashbury (this was the late sixties) and came bag with a lid for him after midnightWe went into the backyard and smoked a joint, came back inside and I laid on the floor in my sleeping bag, he was in his bed. Put on Saucerful of Secrets and just tripped. I especially remember Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun

My first foray into weed and my ownership/operation of "Dark Side" were tightly linked. I remember being wasted off my ass and melting into the headphones. I had elaborate brain movies to some of the tracks. cn

Check out Dub Side of The Moon by the Easy Star All Stars, DarkSide meets Reggae, it's a masterpiece. It's on You Tube.
