i just got back from my favorite cannabis club. i have some extra meds to vend. she was interested so i will go back monday and show her what i have. the things is, some things have changed. we are now required to fill out paperwork. paperwork as in a 1099 form. that's a tax form. if i take them any meds i have to fill out this form then i will be paid by check. at the end of the year i will have to file this as income with the state AND FEDERAL government. i'm not sure what to do. i want to pay my taxes but the fear of the feds lingers. she also said that all the clubs have recently received letters from the feds stating to either close there doors or their property will be seized. so i'm not quite sure what to do. i would love to share my meds with them. they have always been very kind to me and their cliental is the type i prefer to work with. they have been paying state taxes since last year but never federal. she says that California needs to stand up and fight for cannabis rights. it appears there is a storm on the horizon.

I understand the federal fear, but didn't you have to register to begin with? Don't they already know? If you bail on taxes it could be really bad news...it might be the feds new way of "intimidating" people, or worse busting them.

i.e. dude gets busted says I have a liscense for that, the man says yeah but you are getting arrested for tax reasons not marijuana. If I was you I would pay it, nothing worse than some tax problems...just ask Capone:mrgreen:

This also raise the question of do we want legalization or decriminalization? legalization requires the govt and rules is this really what we want? Or do we want a system that doesn't throw us in jail but rather fines us. I for one want no govt involvement at all, soon enough you will have to buy the govt's schwag or else....lets face it the govt can't run anything right, do you think they would get MJ right?

if i don't pay it the feds will come after me for undeclared income.

if i do pay the feds will come after me for cultivation.

Exactly, what I'm saying though is don't they already know you grow? I heard your name goes into a database, so they have it already. I personally would be more worried about taxes, they don't fuck around though. I personally believe this will be the feds new method of getting farmers..the raids seem a little brutal and it would be a great PR move to start busting growers for taxes. So they would make you look like a tax swindler rather than an innocent farmer. I'm not in your shoes so I don't wanna say but I would say talk to a lawyer ASAP, you are a family man FDD.

On a side note:

What if Cali doesn't do well with the whole tax thing? Is the fed govt going to step in and say. "see we tried to make it work in Cali, and it didn't so no more MM at all". I personally think the govt is using this as a test run to see what numbers they come up with...meaning how much MJ and how much money can be made. And also to control the situation without looking like drug war cowboys:mrgreen:

i'm registered at the cubs but they don't share those records. they can be seized in a raid then followed up but that's a long list of names. i'm registered with the state but only as a face and #. no personal info was shared. only the initial application had my name and it was destroyed upon issuance of my card.

OK so I was told a mistruth...LOL. I'm in PA so I don't know much about MM, it's a bad word here...only satan and democrats would smoke weed. I need you guys to teach me how it works. I would talk to a lawyer friend if you have one, safe is better than sorry, remember you are a good guy and good guys do the right thing...THEY TALK TO LAWYERS..lol

make a drive to downtown Sacramento....on x street care center..they dont have the form and aren't enforcing it. they pay 3700 max. I just called the manager(friend of mine)she said "heard of it, not going there, how am I supposed to help patients by getting them locked up" her words.

She also said she would go to prison before she let any of the patients be victimized by the fed .gov.

They are never going to legalize this shit. It amazes me, alcohol kills and its fine. MJ is a danger to many capitalists (synthetics, fuel, PHARMA, alcohol) so they will fight tooth and nail to make sure it stays illegal...pure evil especially when it is being used medically by some.

i would love to be able to state my occupation as "grower". i'm fair, i want to pay my taxes. they are trying to make me feeling guilty either way.

the club here is doing this because they only want to deal with legitimate growers. no more street punks. true patients only. i lean this way myself.

that sounds good....i just have a hard time trusting the fed...too many loop holes...and you can talk to a lawyer, even hire one, but the truth is the feds can throw 1000 lawyers at anything you get. i want everything to be cool. im licensed myself. But I have to sit back and watch all the clubs i go to get systematically shut down only too destroy all the meds and then give everything back. I thought the law said they have to "preserve evidence" but they dont..they break all the lights, kill all the plants, dump all the nutes, and then you get it back in paper bags and in pieces. sorry but its going to take some time before I can just stick my ss# on a pot receipt.

I too think this is the only way WE have of being successful in the legalization/decriminilization fight. If Cali and the others can show that they run a clean system with no crime or abuse of the system it will turn some heads towards our fight for what is just and fair. Not to say that I don't think street punks habe any less rights than us but we have to show that we are not criminals, thugs, or communists. Best PR for the movement would be a nice clean system..great PR. It will also show who the real criminals are..DEA FEDERAL GOVT, not the good people helping one another through a compassion center. They are making this more difficult then it should be, lets face it whats wrong with getting high? Nothing its all about money and power.

any system that issues drugs or guns(pharmacies, gun shows) will be abbused by criminals. this is the u.s. a lot of people here are good people but there is always those that abuse everything. I know a gal that used to work at a pharmacy, she used to come home with wood drums full of norco, oxy, and codeine. so any way you try to do this you have to keep in mind there isn't a fool-proof way to conduct this. when people continue to abuse the system they will say like you stated that we tried and it did'nt work. the usual answer from fed. gov.

Don't even think about it anymore, the Feds are going to launch a vendetta against CAs independence from federal restrictions on Marijuana. Hell knows no fury like the Federal Govt scorned.
It ain't worth the risk if the IRS is in the loop.
Just my two pennies!
