The Dark Flush

Hey,

Here's the deal, a fellow grower told me that leaving the plant in pitch black for 2 days before harvesting causes the plant to rush all it's thc and resin to the bud and leaves. Now, I don't have the luxury of being able to cut off the light from the rest of my plants, so... I'm gonna yank the plants out of the ebb/flow table, plunge their roots into some distilled water and lock them in a well ventilated, dark room.

Anybody, foresee any problems? Possible suggestions?

Im Trying To Figure Out The Same Thing Basically! Does The Plant Still Need To Get Water When Its In The Dark? I Thought I Read Somewhere That You Should Do No Water Or Light For The Last 3 Days. Is This True? Seems Like Not Many People Know Too Much About This!

I have been trying to find the original
article that described this very same thing,
but I am still searching. Basically it said for
certain strains, after your last flush 3-5 days
before harvest you put the plant into total
darkness for th last two days before harvest
lightly stressing the plant into producing more
THC. I don't remember the strains that were
suited to this behavior, but I do know that
this was the practice.

I heard the same thing about leaving them in the dark for the last 2-3 days. If it does increase the resin development. Great. If not the dark days will not lessen the resin. I say go for it.

As far as the watering. Near the end on the flowering you should keep the plant as dry as possible. I have heard that this also promotes resin growth. I usually don't water mine for the last 3-6 days.

yes, ive done this for years. actually, putting the plants in the dark is beneficial because the working nutrients and materials the bud use for growing go into the stems at night. I generally flush for two weeks in tap water and then put them in a dark room with no water for two days (i grow hydroponically) and they dry out and pretty much die. they will put every effort into resin production as well, hence no water. and keep a fan going as well. the plants do resperate, and actually grow more at night than during the day. during the day the plant is storing ATP through light photosynthesis to be used to grow at night- so dont turn off your bubblers fellow hydro growers, or your fans.
