- i fear this whole thing might be over today, when i got home i found that my dog knocked over my plant and it was on the floor covered in dirt. i was so angry, but i got over it and replanted if it dies this will suck, but luckly i have more seeds, its just sad to see the very first plant im growing to just die over some stupid mistake like this.

The minimum wattage needed is 400. You will need a ballast because the light (metal halide or high pressure sodium) won't fit into a regular wall socket.

You will need a way to vent the heat created by the high wattage light. This doesn't mean a little tiny fan that sits on the counter. You need a exhaust fan that really moves the air. It should vent to the outside.

The room should be a place where you can completely close it off so your dog or whatever can't get into it. If anything can get in there they can bring in insects and/or disesases. Before putting anthing in there wash the entire room down with a weak solution of water and bleach. This sanitizers the area. Can't stress enough starting with a clean room.

Keep all equipment clean and handy. The basis (aside from your growing set-up) plastic cups (clear & colored), maginifying glass, moisture wand, ph wand, small fan (separate from the exhaust fan) this is to keep movement around your plants so you don't have problems with mold, grow liquid, fungicide, a good timer, good pair of small scissors, potting soil (never reused potting soil) and patience.

I have to concur with mogle, you need a controlled environment to grow properly. No dogs, sterile-ish room, more watts (I use a 400w MH for 4 plants and switch to 400w HPS during flowering), venting and consistant air tempurature is required.

Maybe you have this already, I dunno...

My cat knocked down and partially buried a 3-4" plant. After a little TLC she bounced right back and is now thriving, so good luck!

i don`t think that there is a min. wattage.as long as it useable light.the cfl is useable but toss the standard bulb.your yield will suffer from that small light but you can still get a plant or 2 to grow.keep the light as close as you can to the top of the plant, without burning it(a few inches).good luck
