The Atheist Snake Oil of Fallacies

Did you seriously say "prove to me the Sun isn't a god" ?
That's a shifting of the burden of proof.
I don't believe it is, and am justified in that until someone presents good reasons to think the Sun IS a god.

And, pointing out a fallacy isn't meant to prove the conclusion false.
It shows that you haven't actually offered any reason to believe it.

And, Dawkins and Hitchens didn't invent logical fallacies, golly!
They are thousands of years old. Study logic and you'll find yourself in a philosophy class learning about Plato and his merry men.

And the thing of it is the Sun has a lot more checks in its column for being a god than does Jesus or Allah or Yahwe.

All that really means is the religion of my upbringing was protestant Christianity. Christianity is the predominant religion of our culture so when I run into Christians who want to try to discuss this with me Christianity is the religion I'm thinking about most often.

If I were an atheist in Saudi Arabia I'd be an Islamic atheist.

There are many things that will get you beheaded in the Kingdom of Saud.

I guess the proper way to have said it was that if I were an athiest in Saudi Arabia I would pretend to not be.

How are you a protestant atheist besides the fact you used to be a protestant?

IS there a difference between a Protestant atheist and an Islamic atheist, besides having different upbringings?

An atheist is just an atheist; a non-believer who doesn't believe in gods.

Anything besides that has nothing to do with you being an atheist and is a descent into personal belief.

Christianity isnt just a religion. Not really. It is a totalogy. It is a belief system that prescribes methods for various ways of doing almost anything.

Christianity has had an answer for everything for 2000 years. As such it has influenced nearly everything we do, even the most secular among us. So much so that even Christopher Hitchens referred to himself as a protestant atheist.

Having given up the belief in a God that killed himself becuae he couldn't change his own rules, I'm still a member of a culture that has been totally subjected to Christian influence for most of the last two millenia.
