The Age of Clones

is it possible to cut clones from a plant that's too young? I cut clones from a few plants that were only about 25 days old but the clones took right away...evene had to transplant them within a week when the roots started coming thru the peat pots...then they stopped growing. I'm growing in soil and the ph seems good.. lighting is good.. temp is good.. all within the general guidelines.
thanks for any opinions and real knowledge :-)

Yes, it is possible to take a clone from a plant that is too young...or should I say immature? Because it's not so much about how old your plant is as how developed. Basically, clones carry the same age as the parent plant they were taken from.

I mean, I've heard of people taking cuttings in the 3rd week of veg, so your timing doesn't sound terribly wrong....How big were your clones when you took them?

thanks for your reply. They were rather small..maybe being 3 inches tall but with a fully developed set of leaves. They took root right away... and then i put the small peat sacks that i started them into a larger peat pot and the roots continued to grow thru that rather quickly..then after i transplanted them again.. never touching the root system but merely putting them again into a larger pot... they pretty much stopped growing. I don't know if i should continue to try and nurse them...they don't look particularly unhealthy...but they just don't grow. Any thoughts at all are appreciated.

Peace

after i cut the clones, i first transplanted them into those little peat disks that you soak in water to expand....then after the roots started to come out the sides i moved it to peat pot with a little more soil... then the roots came out the sides of those so i put it in a regular planter. That's where they all are now..

Well, it's pretty common for plants to go through shock after being transplanted. Generally growth slows for a bit while the plants recover. I think you should just give it time, especially if your plants don't look UNhealthy.
