So, if you do not follow the news, or you just watch one channel so that you are informed about Global events but you don't really pay attention to the other stations or know the differences, here is how it all works.

First off, you would think that they would ask new people for their opinion on everything, but each channel has its Pundits which it has on all the time. They will have their designated Republican or Democrat, or people who write for different newspapers, etc. as of 2016, they have had their designated Trump supporters, designated Bernie supporters, designated Hillary supporters, designated Cruz supporters, etc.

The reason it works like this is because of the CNN effect. TV used to shut off, it would say "Goodnight" and *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*, but the news is now on 24 hours a day, especially when there is something like a shooting or terrorist bombing. This has changed the way the news works. Everything is part of a Narrative and is spun. They will start with a fact, such as a shooting, or an officer involved shooting, or a court case, or anything, and they will have pundits on which they know will share the Narrative that they share and spin in their favor. They take a fact, and tear it in to pieces, then use those pieces to make things fit the narrative.

There are hardly any investigative reporters any more, they mostly create the stories in a studio and have the anchor sit at a desk and tell you about things that they read on twitter, or saw on Morning Joe, or the Drudge Report, or were briefed on that day by people who scour twitter and news websites all day (fact checkers, etc).

Here is an example of how twitterized the News is. Everyone at those weird desks is using a giant tablet to find stories.

Fox news is Republican, but they deny it. They claim they, mostly, just happen to be conservative while they share fair and balanced news. Megyn Kelly, for example, is Independent and says that the O'Reilly factor is not a Republican show.

MSNBC is Liberal, but there are no real liberals. They have the talking points, and the spirit, but they all wear suits like any other news channel and if someone from Mexico were to look at all of the US's national news station standing next to each other, they would think they were all one political party, and an Oligarchic one at that.

CNN is in the middle. But they will use the same stories in every hour if there is a slow news day, and I think that they have forgotten about how the CNN effect can be used for good and not just for financial gain.

If you tweet at them while you watch the news, sometimes you can tell they have read your tweet.

Also, I made #Fuckabee for when Megyn Kelly said Fuck on Live TV. So if you are ever watching Megyn Kelly, make sure to tweet with the hashtag #Fuckabee

If you would just click the link in the Original Post it would make sense:

The CNN effect is a theory in political science and media studies that postulates that the development of the popular 24-hour international television news channel known as Cable News Network, or CNN, had a major impact on the conduct of states' foreign policy in the late Cold War period and that CNN and its subsequent industry competitors have had a similar impact in the post Cold War era. While the free press has, in its role as the "Fourth Estate," always had an influence on policy-making in representative democracies, proponents of the CNN effect argue that the extent, depth, and speed of the new global media have created a new species of effects qualitatively different from those that preceded them historically.[1][2] The term's coinage reflects the pioneering role played by the network CNN in the field, whose "saturation coverage" of events like the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, the fall of Communism in eastern Europe, the first Gulf War, and the Battle of Mogadishu was viewed as being strongly influential in bringing images and issues to the immediate forefront of American political consciousness and beyond. Despite these origins, the term as used generally refers to a broad range of real time modern media, and is not exclusive to CNN or even 24-hour news cycle broadcast cable news.
