I posted a thread about what I was doing wrong my autos were getting 4.5 to 5 foot tall and onl getting a 1/2 off them I was only using hps i started using hid for first half the new kidder are 4 weeks old 1.5 tall and 1 foot wide and all ready budding when should I go too hps and can't get my own seeds I made too sprout there harvested 3 weeks ago thanks for help

dunno man i know nothing about seed production and seed harvesting :/ wish i could help. Im looking to make some fem seeds in winter, and im guessing they require certain nutrient blends to mature optimally, and i guess they need to prety much be dropping off the plant when they are ripe? i dunno. If anyone can give a good answer im all ears. And as for switching to hps, just do it whenever if they are budding. You think you got too much stretch bcause you were putting your hps too far away to begin with? Maybe get an air cooled reflector so you can put it closer to the plants then you get all those lumens and a shorter, more dense plant? But it could be to do with genetics too, what strain were you doing? Sativas stretch more than indica.
