TFC charging me a maintenance fee - BULLSHIT!

I'm checking my online banking and I see this horseshit! $10k in the account and they have the balls to charge me a $9.95 maintenance fee! This is the last straw for tcf. I am closing my account this week. Time to find a new bank.

Fuck that noise... Change banks! They basically use our money to make money as it is... They shouldn't be charging!

I am. I did some research last night and figured out that I have to use my debit card 15 times per month to not get charged a maintenance fee. Bullshit. My sister is part of a credit union right by my girlfriends house. I am going to open a free checking account there tomorrow, then move all my payments and shit over this week. I already have a separate online savings account with ING.

don't just close the account, make sure to berate them until they feel like shit. explain to them how a bank works, or ask them to explain it to you.

you are giving them thousands of your dollars interest free and they have the balls to charge you for the privilege.

when i closed accounts with wells, bOa and chase, i made sure to go in there in person and loudly berate them at the busiest time of day for screwing us in every way they could.

I will let them know, but i'm sure this wasn't the policy of the teller that is going to close my account. That teller will almost certainly have had nothing to do with it, and is simply trying to get a paycheck. I will be very calm and collected by the time I close the account, and I will simply let them know how dissatisfied I was with their service over the years and treating customers this way will cause them to leave just like I am, and at this point there is nothing they could do to rectify the situation; I was already unhappy with them, just not enough to go through the hassle of changing accounts, but now I am and I did. Closing my account and moving my money will say more than any words ever could.

usually you don't close the account with the teller, but rather a personal account manager, and from experience i know these people tend to have lots of communications that make their way up the ladder.

the way i look at it, yeah, they are just making a paycheck, but they are making their paycheck from a place of business that treats its customers like shit, and their compliance makes them just as filthy in my eyes.

anyhoo, props on handling it like more of an adult than i ever could.
