test the ph in soil ?

how do test the ph level of my soil??? i have a pool ph tester.. just fill it up an put the drops in.. should i just fill it up with the water that runs thru the soil then put the drops in? is there a tester i should buy? thanx 4 any help..

test the water that comes out the drain hole when you water it
