Terry Tickles Tottie

Well, the CT scan has confirmed that I've cracked a bone in my knee, so I won't be able to manage the smaller clones the way I'd need to.

In any event, they're growing incredibly bushy/dense, which is a recipe for bud-rot down the track, so I've decided to trash them & not waste any more time & nutrients on them.

I've been growing a succession of mono-crop Leda Uno clones for the past few years, so it's probably a good time to pop some different beans & re-set the compass. I have a feminised LU seed project going indoors, so the genetics are saved for another time.

In the meantime, it's chillies & tomatoes ahoy!

The old Mother plants went into re-veg & have now produced some "extra" bits that have begun to go into stretch.

The older growth is predictably dense & given my location, will almost certainly succumb to bud-rot before they're finished, unless I take them a bit early or chop the older growth & let the rest go.

Timing of getting them from indoors to OD was poor, so I'll cop that & just accept what I get.

Decision made. This lot won't survive the next month unless I cut the absolute shit out of them & I can't be arsed doing-so.

Too much dead growth in amongst the older colas that are STUPID dense (some of them are 10-15cm across & 40-50cm long), that will just result in bud-rot down the track. I know when I'm on a losing-game.

They're going to the "Chop & chuck" pile.

Anyone else get the feeling that you've perhaps gone just a teensie-weensie bit overboard on the burgeoning Aussie growing season?

About another 10?? different strains from ancient seed-saving/production shenanigans in the offing & about 200 chilli seeds of 6 different varieties awaiting the green light.....

I think I have my work cut-out for me, but I'm not backing-down from the challenge.

It's that..... kinda-sorta SF kinda-sorta thing.....

Proper Preparation & Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance:

L-R ALL the same strain, home-made seeds from several years ago & all the same batch. I trashed the other 48 seedlings that came up, as I don't want to deal with the excess.....
L-R shows the difference between chucking immature seedlings outside early vs, working them under lights for a few weeks vs. giving them an extra month under lights.

There has been a certain amount of topping-action......

Methinks the earlier iterations are destined for the compost bin.

Ooer! Did someone mention 1000 IBC's vs 2 x 27000L tanks?
