Temperature

Everywhere i look, it says between 75-85 or 70-80.

Right now my room is 85 in the day and 70-73 at night, as per the instruction sheet that came with my nutrients. (Holland Secret)

However some folks have told me to keep my room at a constant 77, others tell me that i'm ok. I just wanted to know for sure, as i thought that the higher temp forced the plant to produce resin to protect itself from the heat.
Am i wrong.

My growbox runs between 75 and 82 farenheit

I think i depends on the strain. I keep my room at about 80 untill i am adding c02 and then bring it to 85 as they respond better to co2 at higher temp. Lights out 72 degrees. Watch your plants try different temps. they will let you know.

Can i get a plant to become resinous with the higher temperature, or is purely strain based?

Marijuana grows in almost every region on the planet. It grows in high temperature locations as well as moderate temperture locations. 85 degrees is fine. Tempertures become really important when growing hydro ... but here we are talking about nutrient solution tempertures.

My res never gets above 73, its usually 67-68, but when it gets close to time to change the res, its about 72-73

Also, what exactly is the need for the 15 degree temp drop at night? just because its natural or for some other reason?

Again it doesnt have to be exact. Your lights being off should cool the room enough.
