Where should you place the thermometer to get the most accurate temp?

Greetings, I have one above the light and one at medium level in the shade, avg for canopy temp. When ever I did canopy only, reading would be inaccurate from the device heating up from light exposure.

Hi pal
I'm using 1 where the display is out side and the wire with the sensor goes inside. At the min it's having level with the top of the plants sort of to the side of the light saying 28-30 lights on and 20-22 lifhts off
