Yeah his derailleur is toast, chain and likely the hanger. I'd still have someone look at it and check the frame alignment. Is it steel or aluminum?
Does the wheel spin freely. that photo looks like maybe the brake rotor got bent as well.
If the axle seats that might be fine. Once everything is in the proper place you should be able to see what's bent. And discs have a bit of memory since there's a heat treatment. I've ripped rear derailleurs right off the bike before and just put a few little things on and was good as it was
I fixed it like you told me. Thank you so much! Took it out for a spin and it works again, all the gears and brakes.
How does it look? And wash your bike. Get into everything with a toothbrush........check every weld and look for popping paint. If you have a shop usually do a tune-up let them know what happened and have them do a once over......there might be something you don't know to look for and we can't see. And maybe the rack company will pay for that check up.
You must be like 6'5" that frame is HUGE! Long live the 26er!
Yeah braking has come a log long ways since the cantilever! Not to mention full squish and larger wheels!

How much will that cost to repair, and the damage to the handlebar end of my bike? I have to get estimates for the claim.
That hanger will either have one large Allen head bolt or a few smaller Allen bolts holding it in place which I'm hoping are only loose. Best case they are loose and the hanger is out of alignment and bent because of it. Worse case is the threads they are threaded into are stripped which means tapping the frame to a larger diameter if possible. Can't recall but is the frame steel or aluminum? Steel is a easy fix aluminum might be. Fingers crossed .
