Techno Flora BC Nutes question

Recently switched over to the Techno Flora BC line of nutes from the GH 3 part, and am using the recipe for success blend. The concentration seems pretty high at an EC of 2.6 in flower. Im running at about 75% of the manufacturers directions on RO water currently, but I am a relative noob at this still. The whole nute thing seems to be my stumbling block so far.

Any TF nute users out there help me from having to re-invent the wheel here?

What kind of of mix are you using?

Any help is appreciated.

I bought a sample kit of Techno Flora stuff at my local hydro store which comes with the BC line of Boost, Grow and Bloom plus several small samplers of nute suppliments and a small jar of cloning gel. For about 30 bucks USD it wasnt a bad deal. They include what they call their recipe for success which tells you how to mix all the nutes and suppliments in every stage of growth. Since I have been struggling with GH nutes I thought a change might solve some of my problems and this was an inexpensive way to try something else out.

I did a small experiment using 2 waterfarms. In each farm I planted a clone taken from the same mother at the same time. One farm ran the GH 3 part plus Calmag+ and in the other I used the TF recipe for success blend.

The TF plant showed immediate growth with good vigor and the only signs of burn was some tip burn due to chlorine. I was using tap water.

The GH plant showed slow growth and died within about 2 weeks.

Both were mixed according to manufacturers instructions.

The TF plant continued to thrive right up until I tripped and fell on it... D'OH!!

As of now I am running my veg and flower tanks on RO water using the TF nutes with the veg tank at 100% and the Flower tank at 75%. All plants seem to be happy and I will likely bump the flower tank up to 100% if they continue as they are.
I should add that they smell sweet and stinky so far which is something that didnt happen on my last grow with the same stains on the GH nutes.

I really don't get what your question is in this thread.. You haven't indicated any problems.. just that your ppm may be high? Reinventing the wheel? No I haven't done that. However I followed the instructions that come with the recipe for success and had no problems. At about a month and a half (18 inches) I was running 1400-1600 ppm without issue or any signs of burn. The only thing I used more sparingly than the package suggested was the sugar daddy. Also, I don't suggest you use the green thrive alive in a res (if for whatever reason that seems like A good idea).

Thx for the reply Meetzu. Well my veg plants are looking great at the full mix but my flowering plants not so much. They are showing all the signs of nute burn... ie yellowing leaves starting from the ends and getting crispy. This started once I went to a full nute mix on my bloom tank.

RO water in 10gal rez using top drip buckets.
Temps and humidity stable at 75-80 deg F and 50% humidity
12/12 light cycle under a 1000w HPS. Plant tops are about 24in below light with a fan blowing cool air on them from the house air vent.
I have been having a problem with the PH dropping which started to excellerate once I went to a full mix after about 3 days. It can drop as much as a full point in a day if I let it.
I am also using 60ml of aquashield(hydroguard) in 10 gal of water.
I just started them on PH adjusted tap water with aquashield to give them a good flush for a couple days then I plan to back off the mix again to about 80% of reccomended.

I also dont use the green thrive alive in my rez. Just the red.

I used them during my first grow. I thought they were okay. I pulled some clones and ran half on the BC nutes and half on botanicare. Everyone liked the Botanicare stuff a lot better then the BC nutes stuff. The first round of clones I had I hit with the BC nutes according to the directions on the recipe for success instructions. I was lucky I did not kill those plants.

Do not rely on product instructions. Rely on a TDS meter. Different plants can handle different concentrations of nutrients. As an example I have White Widow that I can not hit with more then 800 PPM nutrients. I have Pot of Gold that can take 3000 PPM nutrients. If you are going to continue to use the BC line mix all your nutes together in a 1 gallon jug according to the instructions and then add the nutrients to your water until you reach the desired PPM.

Aye, this appears to be my problem area with nutes. Trying to figure out what concentration to use. Thats why Im looking to get some ideas from people that have some success with these nutes.

You dont mean mix all the nute concentrates together before putting them in water do you?? Because that is bad.

If your ph is dropping quickly then it would seem like the plants are drinking more water than they are taking up nutes. Couple that with the signs of nute burn and you should probably step it back a couple hundred ppm and see if they continue to degrade. Your ph would likely swing less quickly as well.
The strain you are growing will also have a big effect on how high of a concentration you can run. Some can take it up to 2000 ppm, and some will show burn at 1000. You can just continually step it up bit by bit until you see those first signs and then step back to the previous concentration and keep them happy.

My veg plants are right around 1000ppm on RO water and are looking great! The mix for the flowering stage calls for a concentration around 1500ppm. I have has them on tap water + Aquashield for the last 3 days and they seem to have stabilized so today I will put them back on nutes of around 1000ppm and see what happens.
