Tds/Ec

ok i am assuming that TDS means ppm measurement.

i see that tds pens are rather cheap but EC/TDS pens are rather pricey..

i thought ppm and EC were related :o... so by knowing how much ppm you would know your EC level....

bah what is the deal on this and should i get the EC meter instead of the TDS meter?

It's a nice thing to have, but not necessary for a beginner. If you don't have one, as long as you use half of what the label says, and change the rez every 2 weeks, you'll be fine.

If you get one, in the US we use Total Dissolved Solids measured in ppm, other places use Electrical Conductivity.

I am on my first grow and am too cheap to buy one. Things are going great for me. Like Potroast said, make sure to change the res on schedule about every 2 to 3 weeks (I wait 3 most times).
I will eventually get a ppm meter though, just not now.

tds is an expression of ec (total disolved solids vs electro conductivity. i have an ec / ppm wand and like to use multiple fertilizers suppliments and other shit in my nute mixture , in fact its more of a concotion and always making adjustments id ratrher be able to gauge the changes in my own special mix and the overall ppm gives me an idea if ihave over concentrated one thing for another i have used less of when introducing different supps and nutes.

in other words i hve too much to lose if i mix a batch of water wrong and burn everything.

ec is the actuel elctonic reading ppm is what the little microprocesser interprets the ec to be in rational eqation ie 1300 parts per mil

i have 6 diffrent furts and i think i use up to 3 at a time...so do i need to measure the EC or ppm of each fert ammount? blarg i am so confused O_O

say i make my about 1 gallon mixture couldn't i just test the EC of it and compare it to the recomended EC level on the foxfarm nutereint chart?

CONFUSED :[

sorry i am stoned measure the ec/ppm after you add a tined down version of the nutes (i use 4-6 dif things per water and have like 15 bottle on my shelf) if you use 3 nutes use them all at1/3 strength and check when ure done mixing. add alittle of each if its too low.

measure when you add so you can go off of something liek ml and cc or oz

write it down

Mr I Can Do That For Half
Ok I see a convo I wann get in on here. My Truncheon wand shows an EC reading and then it has ppm for ec 500 or ppm for ec 700 which should I be looking at for ppm in theUS..I think I saw china used the 500 but what about us or should I just worry about the EC value it shows hmmmm
