Tangerine Dream - Barney's Farm Smoke/Grow Report

want this strain so baddddddd!
What are you..friggin' crazy? For the price there are many better choices out there. Maybe I just got a bad set of phenos -- but Tangerine Dream was the WORST strain I've grown in the last two years! As for Barney's Farm, I've grown out several of their other more reliable strains -- good results -- but have never found a real "Keeper" worth cloning.

I call bullshit on the portion of the report where you are reporting on the phenos. Ok I get that there were a lot of different phenos. Shows instability in the gene pool not stabilized. However how the H### did you determine with each pheno what % of indica and sativa they were. Surprised no one else caught that. Are you a advanced botanist or chemist. Just saying......... Overall good report.
Wow....really? The ratios were an estimate based on the characteristics of the phenos. Leaf structure, plant structure, flowering time and high were used to determine the percentages. I'd say I did pretty damn well and apparently everyone else thinks so too. Do you think the strains listed at seed banks are scientifically tested to make sure they are 60/40 hybrids or whatever they may state? Why do you never see 27/73 Indica/Sativa.....because it's an estimate based on the strain properties and the gene pool. Your welcome for the review.

Barneys must have stabilized the TB since this report. mine sprouted 5/5 and all appear to be indica dominant. i am only 2 weeks into 12/12 but all 5 look identical. they were very sensitive to over-watering. the week after transplanting to 3gal pots, i over-watered due to dry spots in the dirt. the TD were the only ones effected. about 50% of the leaves got dead spots etc.

I've just grown two TD from clones under LEDs in 1 180cm height tent, for my first grow. They started off indica dominant

but as soon as the lights went to 12/12 they changed to sativa

When they reached 52" and right to the lights I trained them right over, 8 colas in all and they grew fine. The shoots came through to make some nice vertical colas. I left it to day 70, left in the dark for 48 hours and I got just over 250 gms from the two plants.

all 5 of mine ended up indica dominate. they were rock hard nugs in 9 weeks. pretty good actually. the other 5-pack of barneys cookies kush were total shit! hermied, almost pure sativa fox-tail airy buds with no crystals and male pollen on every bud. one single plant out of the 5 turned out ok but it was still sativa dominate. 10-11wks to finish. never again! i heard shitty reports from barneys but i had to try them for myself. i have one critical kush fem seed i am going to try (since it is #1 strain at the attitude seedbank) but that will prob be my last barneys seeds.

This was from the second pack of TD as not one of the first 5 seeds popped. There were three others from the second pack that popped and two were indica, rock hard nugs and the third was like your Cookies Kush, airy buds. Going Greenhouse Seeds Jack Herer next time, fingers crossed.

greenhouse seeds super lemon haze is very nice (if you get the right phenos) also the barneys stuff that i had were very sensitive to nutes & not enough minerals in the water. My RO water did not have enough minerals. i had to get some calmag to get them to grow right. the other 3 plants i had did not act this way only the 2 packs of barneys.

After 4 weeks of curing in jars, I am not complaining. I'm tempted to pay for one of the tester kits just to see that levels of THC I have. I asked a trusted friend to try it for me and he rang my phone to bits till I hooked him up. I'm not going to be growing this for a bit, it was too hard in the tent I have, but if you get a good pheno, it's worth it.

i am not complaining about TD at all, i was happy. i avg 2.5oz dry from each plant, 5 out of 5 started and finished without any problems and it was potent. i will not buy anymore seeds but if i get a freebie in the future, i would find room for it in my area. the G13 Pineapple express that grew beside the TD, was better in my opinion tho.

Growing two TD and nine Blue Cheese, both Barney's Farm. TDs started very slow but caught up around 2 weeks of flower. Popped 10 days later than BC, one with 3 sets of cotyldon leaves. Looks good now, depending on the yield and taste, probably won't grow this again. A challenge none the less and an experience!

as i said my tangerine dream turned out dank as hell. the cookies kush was total crap. the next grow i had a single seed of critical kush from barneys. it popped strong and was one of my best plants. 8 1/2weeks of flowering time and i got 3 oz of super dank smoke. the attitude seedbank has CK listed as the #1 strain on the top 10 list. i have a friend that works there and she claims that they have alot of customers that swear by barneys and the critical kush strain. it was very good but i still think the TD i had were better. the nugs were so dense and dank! i would grow it again but i have so many more seeds to try first. i am using a new area after a 2yr break so i am trying to find the right strains to grow that work the best for me. i have tried over 200 strains in the past 5yr so if anyone is looking for info on a certain strain, PM me! i have heard so many bad reviews about barneys but i think they have some good strains (and some not so good) just like any other breeder. plus the prices are fair compared to some of the higher priced breeders. i would recommend barneys TD if you have not tried it.

i know this is a old thread but i decided to make a second run of tangerine dream and the most recent pack was not as good as the first. after researching more and talking to other people i think i may have just got lucky on the first run. those 5 seeds must have came from the same little cluster and ended up being identical. the stars must have been aligned for me on that one. i have a bad habit of starting new seeds every grow and not taking clones of my best plants. mostly due to space issues but it sucks when you find a really good mother and did not take any cuttings. i still think Barneys has plenty of potential and they are cheap compared to many of the others out there.

I tried BF Blue cheese recently and they went through the ceiling when they were supposed to be indica and short. Shame as the buds were good but too tall for the tent. BF has been shelved indefinitely now, from what I have read their genetics are a little random. I got an auto on the go after that harvested and it took the whole tent up, 120cm in height like a family christmas tree but I got 350 gms from one plant with very little popcorn buds. Gre some 2nd generation Greenhouse Seeds Jack Here and I got 450 from 3 plants. Shame about your 2nd TD attempt, I'm planning a trip to A'dam soon and am going to try theirs just to see what theirs is like. Barney's breakfast bar did top breakfasts back in the day.
