Taking the next step...

Howdy all...

I've cut my teeth on a bag-seed grow and though I still have some flowering time left, I feel I've done well enough to move up to seed-bank stock. Problem is, when I look at all of the choices of strains and seed banks, I feel like a kid in a candy shop. Well, a kid in a candy shop, in another country. I know what packages look good. I just need someone with experience to tell me what tastes good. So, I'm asking for a little help, guidance and suggestions on both strains and seed-banks.

Here's a little about what I 'think' I would like...

  • I would like to experience the difference between Indica and Sativa and don't mind running two varieties at once or one after the other.
  • Not planning on breeding anytime soon and I'm small enough that a 50% male population wouldn't be a yield killer... So, I'm thinking fem-seeds. I'll try my hand at cloning before breeding.
  • Yes, I'll admit it... I would like something exotic to impress my friends, my girl and myself.
  • A strain that's not fussy and will be forgiving of my inexperience would be a huge help.
  • Again, small personal operation. So, a high yield would be great. But, yield isn't as important as quality.
  • I like my pot like I like my drinks... VERY STRONG! I'm a lifetime smoker and have had some very good pot though I've never really known exactly what it was... Put me on the moon or through the floor.
  • Like yield, time to finish takes a backseat to quality but, I don't want to be waiting a year for my smoke.
  • Strains with trim that makes good Ice Water Hash would be cool too. But, I'm a smoker first and foremost at this point.

Here's a little bit about my set-up...

  • 400w HPS Eye Hortilux for flowering.
  • By the time I start, I'll have a 400 MH for vegging.
  • Sun System - Yield Master II reflector.
  • Growing in soil.
  • I've got seven feet of height in my grow room and can Top or LST anything that would push past that.
  • I can grow six plants comfortably without going SOG, though SOG is something that I would like to try down the road.

I've heard good things about Nirvana and Attitude seed-banks and that they ship to the U.S.. Other than those two, I'm worried that I would come across a bogus site that's just out to take money from people. So, if you suggest a seed-bank, would you please include a link.

Well, that should cover most of it. If there's some crucial information lacking, ask away.

So, if you would... Tell me where you think I should go, where I should stay away from, what I should consider and what I should completely forget about, and why.

Thanks in advance for the help.

:)

Blueberry kinda has an exotic look. Killer yield and killer high. As far as companies goes, Serious Seeds can't be beat. Same with Dutch Passion and Sensi Seeds.

If flowering time is important you can't go wrong with good 'ol Northern Lights. Not real exotic tho'
Norther Lights or NL crossed with something else has been a strong contender for a while now.

Thanks for the help. :)

The Blueberry is starting to look good too.

I've also been considering

White Widow
Hindu Kush
Skunk or a mix with Skunk
Haze or a mix with Haze
NY Diesel or other Diesel strain

I've heard GREAT things about Fucking Incredible and the Chem Dog that they say is coming to Green House Seeds... But, I can't find anything on those two (other than R.I.U. posts about how good they are) or where to purchase just yet. In fact, at the point I start to play around with breeding, depending on what they actually are, those two mixed was going to be a possibility ... if I can find them.

Anyone else want to jump in with some suggestions?
aything crossed with Haze will be as good as it gets but it's slow to mature and not a heavy yielder. I suggest TGA Subcools "Jack the Ripper"
If your in the US then you should try out the Canadian seed broker Hemp Depot most people who have tried him love the service and reliability. Check out the Joey Weed Strains for his White Widow or White Russian.

Thanks a million! I had come across that site a few months ago, didn't bookmark it and wasn't able to find it again! This is bad ass, Joey Weed was one the company that really caught my eye. I was bummed to see that they were out of the NL x C99.

Hell yeah! I'm stoked now!

Going to make two orders now for sure and Hemp Depot's Joey Weed stuff is going to one of them.

The other is still up in the air if anyone wants to weigh in. :)

Speaking of which, I did find Fucking Incredible... But, the seed-bank that had them doesn't ship US. :(

yeah, half his stuff is sold out most off the time, that should tell you something about the quality. The White Widow was sold out for over a year till just now.
I'd forget about the F.I. for now I've heard a lot of negative feedback about seed viability problems and potency, you could do better.
BUT if you want to blow close to $200 on em here's where to go
GreenLife: Vancouver Island Seed Co.

Here's another company that is very popular with the US customers, mainly because they guarantee delivery or they'll reship.
Marijuana Seeds - Highest Quality Marijuana Seeds Online
Stick with their superstrains, Joey Weed makes better knock-offs.

Cool stuff... Two more links! TY!

I'm also considering Chem Dog and Jack Herer... When they become available at Attitude, Green House or Pick'n'mix Seed Bank. I'm still new enough that I can't accurately tell the difference between a good description and sales hype. You got any thoughts on those two, up or down?

Thanks again!

I also found some of their stuff listed on this website... Cwbay.com

Ever seen that one before? Wasn't sure how legitimate it was.
New one to me, mind you I'm not a world traveler when it comes to seeds.
BTW I think NYC Diesel comes from Chemdawg too, but don't quote me.
OK that company is legit, just saw them on another guys recommended list.

Stop the presses! I 'think' I may have made up my mind.

Barneys Farm ~ Red Diesel Feminized (Just looked cool)
Green House ~ Alaskan Ice Feminized (Maybe it's the marketing)
Barneys Farm ~ Night Shade Feminized (Fan of 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'*1)

But, I did come across something that left my noob-ass wondering. On the page for Barneys Farm ~ Night Shade Feminized (LINK) it states...

"Quantity: 5 cannabis seeds or 10 marijuana seed pack"

I'm sure I'll show my ignorance with this... So, here goes. I've always thought that cannabis and marijuana were the same. Yet, there they are in the same spot implying that there's a difference... What might that be? Does it have something to do with the feminized aspect of things?

Thank you to everyone that left comments and suggestions. Your suggestions are what brought me to the ones that I have on the list. Came across Alaskan Ice while searching out White Widow and the Red Diesel came in to play while researching NY Diesel and ChemDog. Nightshade, well I came across that by accident, it reminded me of Ray Bradbury's book and it looked promising.

Cheese almost beat out Red Diesel and will be included in my second order. Northern Lights came up as a freebie which is why I didn't pick it for this list. It'll be on the next list as well, after Attitude changes their freebies around a bit. Had there been a NL#5 X Haze that was Feminized, I would have gotten that in place of the Red Diesel. Jack or as strain there of is still in the running down the road and the only reason a Blueberry didn't make it this time is because I've had that before and wanted a wee bit of adventure for this round. And I heeded the warning about the F.I.

Thanks again for the help and if you think there's a problem with any of the strains or growers I've picked, please let me know. I won't be placing the order until sometime next week. Also, if you have experience with any of what's on the list, grow tips would kick ass! :)

I would go with their Northern Berry...a bit exotic with the vigor and stability of NL.

$40 CASH will get you ten seeds + freebies.

Their customer service is so good it is ridiculous...I usually get an email back within 24hr via HushMail. They also get top marks from seedbankupdate.com and their stock is always fresh...with killer fem to male ratios.

I'm just waiting for some their crazy SkunkBerry to come back in.

:peace:

That site is a new one to me... Well, all but two or three and 'new' to me. When you speak of their customer service, are you speaking from a U.S. point of view?
