5 plants in same pot, scared to separate. They began stretching so i lowered my lights. currently using one led, one fluorescent bulb, and a plant light. adding one hps. started with miracle grow fertilizer but switching to the flora series. it has a fan on it
 
Are you flowering them?

What is your question? Is it why are they stretching or how can you make them shorter?

Im waiting about another week before i start flowering, i was wondering how i could get the bushier. Is topping and fimming the only way? or adding more light?
 
You can swap out/add in some 2700k cfl's and that will encourage bushing out.
Also lst and give her a nice long curve and lower the lights, you could get another foot of height or more with a good lst curve.
 
Sounds like it was suggested you seperate them, if you put each in its own pot with the right mix of soil they would survive. How much light? Probably add more light. Top the big one, but wait several days after repotting to do that. Ok, if that didn't make sense, get 5 pots, get them all ready so as soon as you seperate them they can go right into the new pot, then water, I like to use myko on the roots when I transplant or water with myko tea when transplanting, seems like they don't stress at all and just take off.
 
If i were in your situation, i would chop down all but 1 of those and start cloning. Meaning leave one untouched and use the rest of whats in that bucket as clones.

What is a 'plant light'? Get some MH or HPS lighting cooled under 80 and things will get much better . Is that a halogen spotlight? If so fuck it off.

I think you might have it backwards......
2700 or red spectrums promote stem growth and vigor

while the 6500k blue promote actual vegetable growth. Such as closer internoafal spacing ( aka bushier )

I had a teen under 6500k and all she wanted to do was grow in height. I swapped out for a 2700k, lst'd her, and all she does now is bush out. 1st picture, notice her main stalk lst'd and the curve is right under the steal your face emblem on the tapestry in the background. 2nd picture is a whole body capture, notice all the branching and bushing opposite the side that was lst'd. Added at least another foot of height space and allows for her other shoots to catch up to the height of her main.

I think the LST got your plant bushy.
