HPS doesn't put out 4000 kelvin. That's actually not possible. HPS is high pressure sodium, which uses sodium vapor to put off a yellow light usually around 2100-2500 kelvin.

Metal Halide would be closer to 4000 kelvin.

You should do some reading about HID lighting. You seem to be a bit confused about it.

I think i hear what you're saying and no you do not need any complimentary light. Although i do like to add cfl's to the right and left sides of my tent and the rear (I don't mess with the front cause it's open all day). It just helps keep my girls happy and everything green and lush! BTW you can add just about any beneficial light to your grow really just don't over do it with the heat. A 400w hps/mh will light a 4x4 foot area pretty good. Hope this helps bro!

research research research! you should not start anything until you have a complete understanding of what your doing/what your trying to do.. and thinking ahead very far ahead! i put 6 months of research in before building anything for my first dresser grow 5 years ago! and the researching doesnt stop! im constantly researching every day.. understand the concepts and understand your lighting and electrical.. dont take any risks

I'm not sure about the price as I'm not savvy about euro's. The light is not bad depending on your expectations concerning it's light coverage. Like i said before a 400 watt light will only properly cover about a 4x4 area. Keep your light as close as possible without burning your plants up and keep reading everything you can about growing. The more you know before you start the more money and headaches you'll save yourself! B.T.W. Go organic your kids will thank you some day!:leaf:

Would say 4x4, or 5x5 if you push it a bit (for veg)... but your results may suffer a tad. I would also definitely say do not go past 4x4 (for flower).. As for other bulbs, and as mr2shim recommended.. I highly recommend you read a bit. There is another type of bulb you could put in, but it's by no means recommended for first-time/newer growers as you can completely destroy plants in a 4 hour period if you're not careful with the power it possesses.
