T8 LED Replacements for Shop Lighting Use?

Has anyone actually replaced 4ft T8's with some of the led alternatives?
I am curious how the actual light output stacks up at the different wattages and lm/w availability.
Based on the theory of no reflector loss it would seem that less total lamps lumen output would be needed since the light is already pointing down but I was hoping some have some in the field real trials with this.

I run 32W GE 6500K's in my garage fixtures and am looking for a lower watt alternative that will not sacrifice light levels at the floor in any way
Any suggestions?

4 vero 18 on a heatsinkUSA bar with a HLG-80h-C700.. then throw out the T8 fixture.

You've got an 80W shoplamp that will decimate the old one.

(I've used one of my 80W vero 18 panels with the same driver as a shoplamp and it was awesome)

I also use a vero 29 at 1050mA as a flood lamp for working on my car now. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I don't see the value in trying to retrofit the shoplights. It seems like throwing good money at bad, and since it's a shoplight, it doesn't really need to be aesthetically pleasing.

have to agree with churchhaze throw out the old fluoros and build a new lamp with small les cobs. Most of the T8 replacements are underpowered and barely replace the light from a t8.

After gutting a 48" T8 lamp you could easily mount a 46" heatsinkusa heatsink in it.

I'm sure that would provide a huge amount of light but you just upped my usage by 20? watts per fixture (2 32W per fixture).
I'm looking to cut energy consumption

your favorite homie diaper has phillps 2100 lumen bulbs for $9.99.

they seem plenty bright to me in a ceiling troffer and were a no brainer for less than twice the cost of the t8s that burn out every 2-3 years. looking up i cant tell a big difference between them

Are those the ones that require the T8 ballast be left in place? (seems kinda stupid to me)
Can you share a photo of what those look like illuminated next to T8?

the troffers are kind of a pain to access the way they are installed, also the t8s im comparing them to are a few years old...

and yes those use the ballast if you dont feel like rewiring. these fixtures are decent electronic ballasts circa 2008, if i was replacing any of the pile of t12 shop lights ive been colelcting since the 90s i would wire around the ballasts as they are mostly defunct

there are $7 t8 leds all over ebay some have clear or no lens instead of these which are 'frosted' plastic

I run a bank of 4ft T8 Led lights all 6 strapped on a frame with counterwights

they go great from seedling to mid veg even later for autos

been using the T8 system since 1985?

just last year replaced the tubes with LED

don't forget to remove the starter, if you follow suit

just 2 days ago I removed them shitty plastic shields er...diffusers for greater lux

mine are 17 watts, have yet to test with the lux meter, but think the light is the same as a cloudy day

good value

good luck

ps currently on 21.5/2.5 off
