T8 box question...

Hello again folks.. I have been given 2 highbay t8 fixtures by a customer. My question is this. If i stand those on end vertically on opposing sides of a box... We will call it 5' tall x 4' wide x 3' deep would it work well for growth? Not having the light directly over but all up and down. Like the phototrons from back when. These are nice howard fixtures. Brand new. I am currently trying to grow with about 45w of cfls in a big plastic tote. These t8s have 4x32x2w and thats gotta be plenty for a single plant right? The 3 cfls are doing okay i guess. I know that t8s arent ideal but free is free. I want to make it work. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

On another thought, i do have a defunct refrigerator in the back yard that can be gutted into a box so long as the lights fit inside. Just giving a peek into my vision. If not it will be a similarly sized box built by hand.
