T5 Distance for Seedlings

Hi, my seedlings have just emerged from the soil this morning. I was wondering how far above them should I position my T5 2FT 4 Bulb. Also, should I start a fan on them or wait a few days?

LOL, I'm, as nervous as a new parent:hump:

You can keep your T5 abt 3 to 4 inches, I use T5 2ft,4 bulb also, but keep an eye on them, they will start to sprout fast, yes, you should have constant air circulation, start with a small fan, enough to "jiggle" the stem to strengthen them, best of luck with your grow, and don't worry so much, your plant knows what to do, just feed them and don't over do it.

t5 is linear so you want it as close as possible 2-4 inches away from canopy. inverse square law.

Ive had my T5's anywhere from 8-12 inches.
The plants I got now been under T5s since start and never closer than 8", more like 10"-12"
Seems too be working wonder for me. Those little bulbs give off a good amount of heat...

As long as you dont have a problem with them getting stretchy and the heat is right the distance is good. Closer the better but I see no need to push it.
Look at my log for an example :weed:

7 inches is way too high, 3 to 4 is best, you could go 2 inches as suggested, with a fan on you should have no problems.

Edit: I've never paid attention to the temps of my seedlings, if temp is to high they will let you know, their leaves will point upwards, if so then raise the light an other inch or two, if not, let it be.

I have it at about 7" now, and my fan is off.

Temp under lights is 83-85F and 23-28% Humidity. It's a dry one here in CO
turn the fan on,and all sounds good, that t-5 do not need to be 2" above plants,it will grow them just fine where you got it now.

Thanks, I turned the fan on low and it seems to be bring down the temp

Another question, when do I put them under my 600w MH Light?

T5 is linear so if its further than 4 inches away. Plants will still grow. But they will grow at a much slower rate. It doesn't make them stretch. It just slows growth.

look up inverse square law.
