I've been trying to figure out how far to hang my t5 4'8 bulb fixture above my veg canopy for quit awhile now. I know there's a lot of factors to this question, but what is the basic height to hang above the plants.? Any suggestions?

Not really many factors to this one. My T5s are as close as they can be, which is usually about 3-4 inches. I've got the fixture on a set of adjusters so I can easily raise it or lower it depending on the size of plants under it. The only time leaves ever get damaged is if they actually touch the t5 bulbs other wise get that baby close to maximize the light your girls are getting.

Ok, that seems a little close, but your probably right, but ive tried 6", 12"24" 3'etc,and it all seems to be about the same growth from the plants, of course any higher and the plants start stretching like crazy. Maybe I'm just over thinking this. Also, I don't know how I started a new thread, I must have push the wrong button or something when I asked this question. Because I've got 2 boxes on the title page or whatever it's called. I must have been super medicated last night lol

I run my 8-tube, 4' T-12 rig as close as I can get it and don't care if a leaf or two get scorched by hitting a tube. Rigged it so I can use 2, 4, 6, or all 8 but by the time I want all 8 it's better to switch to a 400W MH as the plants are taller and lower growth suffers. A buddy recently sent me a 400W Philips CMH bulb I'm dying to try on vegging plants so better get planting. :)

T 12s. Are weak garage tubes. I'd rather grow with a150 wtt compact t5 flora. I'm not trying to be harsh. Or get on anybody . To each there own. BUT silly lights, get silly results.

3000 lumens each and I've started hundreds of plants under it the last 18 years so they're no weaker than a lot of other lights guys use to get clones and seedlings going. Cost me nothing to build it so weak or not it's been a great rig. Wife likes it fine for starting her tomatoes etc with it either so silly or not it gets great results.

Somebody piss in your Corn Flakes this morning or are you always a jerk?

Yeah, I guess they work for seedlings, my bad, I didn't realize you were using them for seedings, and I'm not a jerk, I just tell it like it is. Silly lights silly results, and I'm not growing tomatoes . Are you always this sensitive ?
