t5 2ft 2bulb HO question/lights

Hey everyone just had some questions on how I should rearrange my lights... at the moment i have 6 23w 6400k a 85w full spec and a t5 2ft 2bulb HO 6400k for 3 plants (germinating some more since I want at least a couple females) using a 4x4x6.5 tent and out of the 3 only one seems to be doing pretty well.. was seeing if anyone prefers using t5s a certain way ... I have it right over my plants about 3inches away and the cfls from the sides, do you think it would be more beneficial hanging it sideways and having the cfls coming right over the tops of them? Since 2 of the plants only one has gotten its 2nd leaves and the other seems to low growth, the 3rd and best looking one seems to show great progress everyday now.

*about 7-8 days from sprout*

They should be fine the way you have it. More info would help though, what size containers, what is the composition of your soil mix, temps of the inside of the tent along with humidity? is there a fan blowing on them....

have them all in those red plastic cups (should have just started them in my 1.5gals) been trying different mixes since my last multiple fail attempts seemed to be the soil.. and heat. The best one going is in a top soil which is very rich, perlite and vermiculite mix. One other is peat, perlite, vermiculite mix and the worse one even though it sprouted first is a perlite/vermiculite mix. With lights on it ranges from a stead 76-79 degrees with 2 fans in each corner at plant/light level blowing both ways and a 240cfm inline fan exhausting. humidity ranges from 22-35% after adding my 85w full spec it seemed a little hot so i added that other fan thats when it seems to be getting in the 20% area.

I'm sure the different soil mixes is why most are growing differently, but from a lot of plants I've seen that are only a couple days ahead of me seem to have a lot more growth. (the best looking one you can really tell a difference of the 2nd leaves growth every day... guessing lenth growth isnt that important at this stage because it isn't stretching at all.

napkin on plate on a heat pad with foil sheet over top no light coming through.2012-12-10_17-08-59_318.jpg This is the fastest growing one and this picture was from early yesterday ... the 2nd leaves already look bigger 2day. on a 18/6 light cycle

ya ill take a picture of the 2nd one with it leaves coming in.. its alot slow progress than this one and ill get a updated pic of the top one as well ..

2012-12-11_13-23-10_46.jpgThis is the better looking and doing one from a top view.2012-12-11_13-23-33_722nd.jpgThis is the other one thats looking better than it did since i added a 85w full spec by it.

Your plants should acclimate to lower humidity and it shouldn't be an issue over time. Keep misting your plants and you may want to keep a wet sponge or two in with your grow which may raise the humidity, although only slightly. How is your temp? You should be more concerned about the temperature under the lights. I am in my first grow under T5's and everyone on the board said keep your lights real close. I did that but my temps under the lights went out of control. Also, it was just too much light for such little seedlings. Yes, you absolutely can have too much light - especially at the seedling stage. The result for me was that I stunted the growth of the plants because I had too much light and the temp was too high. While it's great to keep your lights close to the plant, don't do it at the expense of temps above 85 degrees. I would try lifting your lights up about 8 inches (or more) over the plant and make sure you have cool air blowing in between your plant and the lights. You can always bring the lights close to the plant in an attempt to find that "sweet spot" where you can balance max light with ideal temps. When I ran into problems I raised the light a bit and had two 6" fans blowing air between the canopy and the lights. This brought my temps down about 10 degrees and the plants started to grow. Good luck and I hope this helps.

k sounds good! temp i keep closer to the top of the tent but its usually 75-77 ill move it down closer to see the difference but i have a intake fan blowing right over the lights and barely on the plants and u can literally can grasp the bulb and its just warm, guess the fan is doing pretty good on that part.. the worse out of the 3 seems to be looking sluggish and doesn't even have its 2nd leaves yet .. its just a perlite vermiculite mix and was the first to break surface so its kinda odd (think I just over estimated how fast it would drain and over watered it)

Also do u know the reach the lights on a t5 have ... I know cfl light penetration is low.
