Switching to 12/12

Hello Rollituppers
Today I switched my 2 girls (1 gg4 32" tall and 1 unknown bag seed 31" tall) from veg 18-6 to flower 12/12 light cycle. I'm growing in soil, using advanced nutrients in 5gal buckets, under bloomspect 900 led (actual 296w) in a 3x3x80. The plants have done great in veg. now that I'm putting into Flower I'm aware that there will be a stretch but no sure how much. I thinking I may not have enough space in the tent with my lights to hang 18 above plants after stretch. Should I lst these now while they are just switching and haven't started the stretch yet?

All plants and even phenos are so wildly different with flowering stretch, you'll just have to keep an eye on them. LST and super cropping up to about week 3 flower, at which point you kinda want to let them start growing straight upward. I've done all kinds of weird shit to get my plants at the "same height", i have one on double-stacked dollies and another on an upside down bucket. Ultimately you may need to dim your light if you can't raise it and the plants get too close.

Here's what I meant about the dollies & buckets. I've even had to put plants down into the drip tray to gain the couple inches height from the risers.

BTW the two plants in the front are both White Gold, same seed pack just extremely different phenos.

IMO:

Could add a scrog net\trellis to help flatten the canopy out, as long as you don't really plan on moving the plants. They make 3x3 ones that clip right on to the 4 tent poles if you don't want to fabricate your own frame.

Slowly/carefully bend the branches back and forth until they get rubbery. Don't bend to hard to fast or they could snap. Just keep working it back and forth until it starts to lay down.

Even if they do snap you can keep it propped up in the net and it will grow back together fairly quickly.

I never really use low stress techniques other than constantly topping\fimming. I lay the smack down and bust out the monkey wrench if I have too come flower time. Bend entire main stalks over if I need too. Make them do what i want.

They usually handle the beating well, and put out even more in the end.
