Switching over nutes, how much difference should I expect?

For the past few grows I've been using MG Tomato ferts for veg and Bloom Boost for flowering.. I've had good results iand can't really complain, but everyone is always saying they suck so I figure I'd see what else is out there. So I looked a bit and decided to try out the Lucas method and I ordered some Maxibloom. I'm growing in soil but might be switching to coco after this harvest... My main question is how much of a difference is there really? Or how much of an improvement should I see. I've never really had any real problems with mg and mainly switched nutes so I could go hydro if I want.

MG works, so do many other plant foods found at big box stores or garden centers. Hydro formulas usually require some chelation and a certain blend of nitrogen sources that you're not going to find in non-hydro foods.

In regards to 'improvements' you might see while working with maxibloom in the dirt, I'd venture to say you'll see no improvement assuming you were using a reasonably complete MG product. Dirt growing is much less a 'science' than hydro growing so as long as your plant food is keeping those leaves green and healthy, then your plant food is doing it's job.

Keep us posted with your impressions of maxi vs MG. Maybe you'll find one is easier to work with or more forgiving than the other?

Im hoping that the switch might help with some of my smaller deficiency problems that I have occasionally and maybe a small bit of growth increase, not to mention that if I'm doing Lucas I would be keeping the same level of nutes or greater the whole growth rather than weening into flowering nutes when I start 12/12 so maybe more consistent and more rounded nutes will help out, I dunno. Just wanted to mainly start up in coir but I'll probably post an update or two about the difference. Hard to tell what's opinion or not though lol
