Switching Lighting Enviroments - Outdoor - Indoor

Hi to All, I am a newbie I have read up on allot of growing problems and controverseis over starting and lighting times, (24/0 - 18/6) I changed mine from 18/6 to 24/-0 and it looked to me like they stoped growing (but the leaves got bigger) I down't really know which is best, so I chaned again last night to see if they will grow again

My basic question (which I haven't seen raised in the forum) is:

I have a couple of plants started out on 18/6, 1 1/2 weeks after "birth" and are doing fine (3 inches tall - look good) at the same time a friend planted or better yet "threw" a few seeds on the ground and low and behold a couple of babies came out (but are still only 1/2 inch high and only a couple of small leafs) would it be to much of a strain on the plants to move then from natural lighting (13 light / 11 no light) to closet (my 18 / 6) ?

further on, since I really can't decide on 18/6 or 24/0 how much strain of the plat is given by changing the daylight times? woud the change from 24/0 back to 18/6 induce flowering or do they need lesser than 12 hours to cycle into flowering ?
(p.s. have no idea what the strain is -but sure it's nothing glamourous) some type of local to the mediteranean)

Thanks to all for their time and effort to the site

I try to mix-and match when it comes to re-creating mother nature combined with growing knowledge. For example, I personally like to use 24/0 for seedling and the vast majority of vegging. When I am 1-2 weeks away from flowering I'll switch the lights to 18/6 to "let the plant know" the next season is coming. Switching from 24/0 to 18/6 will not induce flowering.

Any time you switch the lighting it causes some strain, so avoid it when possible. The 24/0 vs. 18/6 argument is one of those things that will exist forever - clearly both of them work, so pick one and stick with it. I personally like 18/6, but as I said, it's pretty arbitrary.

They're so young that changing the light cycle from 13/11 to 18/6 shouldn't be a big deal. Any light schedule change is best done over time (like 14/10...15/9) but that's rarely practical. So yea feel free to just throw them in your closet. It will stunt their growth for bit, but that's nothing to freak out about. Just be patient with them.

The change from 24/0 to 18/6 will not induce flowering. Flowering only occurs with less than 13 or 14 hours of light per day.
