:confused:my plants are at 2 1/2 months, and are about 2 1/2 feet tall. theyve been growing on my window sill, and have been doing pretty good. but im wanting to put them in my closet with a 400 watt lamp on them. they are in a mixture of soil and miracle grow. im just wanting to know if i would be able to make the switch. would they plants die? should i try it for a few days? is there any extra things i should give the plants whole they are in the closet?

thanks alot

that ok they will be fine.just make sure you have adiquit ventalation and intake air. freash air bein better. good luck. they look great. keep it up

They should make the switch alright, I don't forsee a problem. You'll probably want to get some hydro nutes to add with the water in the future to make sure the plant gets everything it needs, unless you've done a grow all the way thru using the miracle grow mix and didn't have a problem.

alright sweet, im getting the lamp today.

its a cone shapped lamp that holds up to a 400watt light bulb.

im getting it from a guy off craigs list for 70 bucks

how good does this light look for growing?

thats fine. do you have the hight in your area for that to hang, if notyoucan just seperate the socket fromthe ballast and run just the licket in your grow room and leave the ballast outside of it. good luck. and 1 other thing that will only run a 400wtt light bulb. and 1 more thingmake sure its wired for what your pluging into. most likly its wired for 244 or 277.

You shouldn't have any problems using that light, but the ballast is magnetic and chances are it is going to buzz sooner or later if it doesn't right out of the box. If that doesn't bother you then you are all set. It's just a standard light they use in factories and the cheapest way to go when it comes to lighting. It also has different settings for the input voltage so make sure you wire it for the correct voltage.

what do you mean about the socket wireing and voltage?

i dont understand

help a newbie out, do you mean the outlet in my room wont be able to support the light?

if so, how can i make sure its safe?
is there a way to test it?
or is there a standard voltage in most apartments?

The picture you have of the ballast on te light says primary volts 120/208/240/277. That means the light will accept any of those voltages but you have to use the right wires when you add a plug to it. If you plug it into a 120 volt outlet and you hooked the wires up for 208 it isn't going to work.

I'm sure the person selling them should be able to explain it to you or wire it up for you if you ask.

thats right. and about the socket. imsaying if it hangs to low in your grow room you can detach to bulb socket from the fixture and run a wire fom the fixture to the bulb socket. this way just the bulb is in the room. this willgive you about an additional5"to 10"of grow hight in your room. this willgive you an idea on what im talking about. hope this helps.

alright, i still get a little confused with all the different things with the lighting, but i think i got it now.

im also planning a new grow, i want to make bubble buckets, and grow more northern lights from the begining

another question: can you use aluminum foil to reflect the light? or do you need to but that reflective stuff from the hydro shop?

ive herd about using aluminum tape to tape around a bubble bucket.
does anyone know the effect of this?
is it to keep light off the roots?

flat white paint will be the cheapest and easiest to install/maintain. DO NOT USE FOIL. and its my personal opinion that mylar is way more hassle than its worth.

I'm sure you can use aluminum tape but that stuff is expensive, $8 a roll isn't it ? I'm going to try and get astro-foil from home depot that someone mentioned in a thread.
