With a switchable 1000w ballast, I would be able to run MH for veg, then just switch the bulb to flower under hps? Is this correct, just wanna be sure. And if so all the MH bulbs i have been looking at are all only around 3700 Kelvin. Is that really enough blue for veg?:peace:

PS-how much did you pay for your light system?

yes, thats what u do with them

Around here at shop just a 1000watt switchable ballast is $160, add socket and batwing for $50. 1000w hortilux is $80.
I also got my big square vented hood used for $60 bucks.

You can get ballast kits for cheap at 1000bulbs.com I got a 400 mh kitt for 50 bucks, including shipping

They make special mh veg bulbs around 5000K, 3700 are standard ones. 70-170 bucks (the blue MH 1000W Hortilux is 170...)
I am using this 400 watt solar max, the 1000watt one is $100.
Its working really good for me.

Right on, Im thinking Screw the switchable ballast tho, go with a good ol 1000w hps for flower, cfls for mother and veggin' Split the 10sq ft into 2 diff parts. Have 5x5 veg and a 5x5 flower. That way the 1 1000w hps will be plenty for flower:blsmoke:
