ok so i set up a swc system with a folgers plastic coffee can and i was wondering is it bad for the roots to not be gettin any air in the water on weekends cant really run the air pump when my girlfriend is here but shes only here on the weekends and i dont want to tell her about wat im doin just yet

Ya its bad. Go to the petstore and get ya a silent airpump. They are fairly cheap.

this one is supposed to be silent but its not the pump i think its the stone vibrating around in the bucket cuz if i set it on the floor(carpet) it stops making the noize it is like a 3 inch disc stone

yep, a weekend without air is almost certain disaster if the roots are left submerged.

If it shuts up when you set the thing on some carpet, I'd nick a swatch of carpet out of the local carpet shop's dumpster!

oh hell ya i forgot theres that carpet store next door to my moms office ill just take a patch of the foam padding or some carpet

hell ya man thanx but im still gonna invest in a better air pump from a pet store this thing is like 3 years old

wow, I can only get them to last about 8-12 mos, lucky you.

its is one of the whisper ones i think let u kno. we have had it since we got this big ass fish tank like 55 gal tank so we needed a pump for the under gravel filtration we got it 2-3 years at the max
