Just found your bulbs(CFL type)on Amazon for about $18 each, they are 26 actual watts.

Wouldn't the spotlight 160W be a better option?...heat is not a concern for me nor the electric bill.:bigjoint:

I would only have steered you away from the ones in your link only because of heat.....BUT.
Im not sure the benefits of using the uvb bulb are of a significant amount, you'd probably have to use too many:lol:Big bucks when a few more cfls would do the same.Might be better of just using more 6500k cfl throughout a grow.

I have been reading some very long and boring studies done on UV-B and its' relationship to terpene development in cannabis. And from what I am gathering, resin production is not only a defense mechanism against UV-B but does a whole lot more. While CFL's do emit a small amount of UV-B, it really isn't the best option when trying to replicate the real thing imho.

I'm also already running 900 actual CFL watts, off another breaker I could easily add an HPS 600...but I hear some of those bulbs marketed are actually coated to prevent UV emissions?.

So, I started looking at the self-ballasted medium based reptile b/c they crank and obviously don't require a ballast. Plus they would only run 4-6 hours daily.

Peace

you can use these supplemental lights to simulate the hot part of the day but watch out for heat damage or a drop in humidity. I would try it 2 ft from the plants. maybe 2 1/2.

You're right about terpene and trichome production....i also read a bunch of boring info on uvb and cannabis that i've already forgotten:eyesmoke:and said f-it and went to petsmart and bought the 10.0 uvb cfl($25),I kept it within a few inches as you can see and I ran it 12/12.
If you find uvb bulbs..reasonably, that you can screw in that increase trichomes and terpenes, let me know!
